What is the world coming to?? This is just insane and its coming to happen all over the world. Once thought by many to be an odd quirk and rare event, its coming to be more commonplace than I believe anyone wants to admit. This, however, is over the top.

MADRID (AP) - A Swiss woman detained by Spanish authorities and taken to a hospital with her 10-month-old son allegedly cut the boy's throat with a hidden knife and killed him after receiving permission to give him a bath, Spain's Civil Guard said Thursday.

The woman kidnapped or what the US would call 'custodial interference' most likely, in taking her child out of a hospital against medical advice, as this reads to me...but with a serious and life threatening condition. Not a wise move. A cruel and heartless one, actually..but what she did next puts her up for some real deep, dark level in a very hot place Dante once wrote about.

Police said in a statement that the mother and child were taken to the Spanish hospital because the boy needed medical attention.

She asked permission from police to give him a bath, took a knife she had concealed in diapers and allegedly killed him, a Civil Guard spokesman said on condition of anonymity in keeping with the agency's policy.

The story reads that she attempted to kill herself as well, but police were able to stop her. Good, I say. Death by her own hand is entirely too quick and easy for murdering her own child and by that...very brutal and extremely personal method too. Few ways of killing are more intimate in the worst ways, than with a knife. Among knife crime, cutting a throat, in my view, is yet again in a new class of personal and evil.

She hit a home run on her first trip out, so to speak. Hopefully they end her game in the final outcome. I'm not sure what the maximum she may face is for Spain, but I do hope it's life with no hope of ever walking out with freedom again ...at least.

The reason God made little kids so cute is so you won't kill them.

That's just barbaric. Since she had a knife hidden in a diaper, it would suggest premeditated, no?

Mankind seems to have forgotten that God loves small children and dumb animals best. ( And short people.)

How horrible

The child suffered from a 'brain abnormality'
Maybe she thought it was a mercy killing?????

Unforgivable
Hope she gets whats due to her

Maximum in Spain is like 30 years, not even ETA terrorist gets that.

Public health in Spain is pretty bad, it's like they just don't want to treat you, if you have something that requires inmidieate fixing you are pretty much dead, for a especialist appointment the average waiting time is around 3 months perhaps she feld desperate and just wanted a quick exit.

Universal social security dint work over here, better luck in your country.

Spain's healthcare system is pretty good. You can't blame the Spanish system for a woman callously killing her child.

Any excuse to knock universal health care.

I lived until 2008 in south America, since in Spain and i can tell you its pretty bad and cannot be sustain, the pensions mostly, its not an attack to universal health care, its an attack to the 30% Spain takes from me every month so i can see a doctor that will give ibuprofen for any illness.
