Now I was under the impression that this was a member-generated site. Was I wrong?

So only certain members should have pre-approved topics up?

As long as a topic is within T&C and is within the Forum specifics, a thread should be able to live or die based on it's own merit.

Beezer, While I can relate I have to say I am having a huge problem enjoying ATS lately. Why? The celebrity threads, the two year old rehashed UFO pictures on the moon. The constant posting of regurgitated news with no research.

I used to love ATS. People here would find an interesting story and research their counter points. Nowadays it is noting but opinions on other people stories. Heck I have seen the same radiation map (that is not a radiation map) posted dozens of times here as if it is fact.

I was so upset I seriously considered posting up dozens of celebrity breaking news stories this morning.

I want the Old ATS back, you know the one, that Denies rather than embraces Ignorance! I know I won't get it and have gotten yelled at for being publicly upset by it. As such I am done with it, I will never again put up a worthy well researched post just to watch a bunch of noobs yell bull without posting up a single fact checked fact.

Not that I am a big dog when it comes to topics but I have done my best to provide quality content and it is more than apparent that most prefer doom porn and celebrity news.

IMO the Admins should focus on bringing the mission of ATS back into focus. I am so bothered about it I just sat down with my buddy today with the thoughts of starting a new website focused on what ATS used to be focused on. Denying Ignorance.

im confused...

Too many already get shutdown, and I often cant fathom why.

Free speech does mean FREE speach, those that dont like it can easily just go find another page.

HOWEVER!!
There are some people who often dont agree with me, they are entitled to their opinions, but I think we should shoot them.

But I think you are thinking of the MSM sites?

The baby attitude syndrome is part of it for sure.

But many people are so hurt by truth that they just can't handle it.

Many things that recently were considered strictly conspiracies and wild theories have come true and displayed beyond speculation.

Many people simply can't figure it all out now.

The sour grapes quandary is well into the five stages of denial now.

And lately, even a good conspiracy theory is frowned upon with fury. I think many people are actually scared that new conspiracies will be proven true soon enough !!

If you want the stories, then post them.

Simple.

If you want a deep, thought provoking thread, then create one.

Maybe I'm wrong.

but with the "everyone gets a trophy" environment, perhaps people are simply used to getting their own way.

Well geez Beez, you might have been writing about me here. Seems that as you were penning this rant, I was penning a reply to a thread that showed up just before your rant. It goes like this.

Normally I just click off a topic that I can't get my brain around but my fingers were pressing the reply button before I got control of myself.

Though I often disagree with your position on things, I have come to respect your balance. Would you mind commenting on my response to the above thread?

Some people seem to forget that you don't have to read every thread on ATS, and everyone has their own personal delete button, it's the little X on the page tab. As long as one is not trolling/instigating arguments intentionally or breaking T&C then I respect their opinion as much as any other, no matter how "out there" it may be.

I will admit there are some threads that make me shake my head or want to say something that would inevitably be turned into insults, that's why I don't post in those threads (usually).

I'm sure it annoys the MODs as well when someone demands they do something, as if they take orders from that person.

I used to but I am done with it. It is simply too frustrating to see the embracing of ignorance on even the most thought provoking threads.

I am not a flag and star hound but I do use that system to gauge the mindset of ATS. I am no longer gonna waste my time filling a tank with a hole in the bottom. Maybe after a certain admin that seems to have a case of the ass for me falls off the planet, I will bother but the double standard is making me not give a crap any longer.

I've had so much bilge slung at me from every direction, I've had people call me everything from a commie, leftist, racist, bigot, fascist, puppet, lapdog, hater. . to take what is said in many posts to heart.

I don't call for an end to threads, simply because I don't like them.

I just go elsewhere.

Sure, I fling potty on occasion as well.

I'll alert mods for outright insults, death threats.

But using euphemisms?

I'd keep in mind that some, type how they speak.

I can redeem my flags and stars at a local tattoo parlor.

Right now I'm having a flaming skull with a rose in it's teeth and a cobra in it's eye (wrapped in an American flag) done on my back.

What a boring world this would be if we all thought the same way

Being the youngest of 4 siblings, I learned a long time ago that no 2 people will always agree on the same ideas
BUT....but back then, 40 years ago [I'm 47] there was no venom or hatred only acceptance of 'okay, fine....what ever'
We all accepted each others views/opinions, no big deal and tried to see where the other one came up with their ideas & why


Now jump to today, people are such ninnies any more if you don't think like them and agree with them, well it is a big deal
Especially when it comes to politics and guns....man touchy-touchy
The name calling and negativity is awful but then again our politicians aren't great role models either *shakes head*

Every damn reality show promotes yelling and arguing......negative....best for ratings tho
But that also teaches the public it's okay to act out and be selfish and ugly towards others
That's why we don't watch them, the previews show enough


I will have to say our oldest sister is the most bull-headed one and as she has gotten older, has a mind set like many here on ATS
She will NOT accept any other views other than her own
She is 'right' and you are 'wrong'
Needless to say, our conversations are limited pretty much to the weather and cooking....LOL
And stay away from her when she's been drinking....ugh *face palm*
