The United Nations has an agency that tracks worldwide statistics on employment.

The claim that over 200 million people are officially unemployed with a rate of 6%.

They say the global workforce is growing faster than jobs.

The report blames East and South Asia and the general weak economic worldwide recovery as a major "reason".

Some may see this as an indication that the global banking/industrial complex is using the general workforce as a scapegoat for their intended failures that always seem to benefit a select few. (IMO)

GENEVA (AP) — The United Nations' labor agency says the number of unemployed people around the world rose above 200 million last year as job opportunities failed to grow at the same pace as the global workforce.

The International Labor Organization said Monday that an estimated 201.8 million people were unemployed in 2013. That's 4.9 million more than the previous year.

An annual ILO report points to an uneven global economic recovery and says East and South Asia together accounted for more than 45% of last year's increase.

U.N.: More than 200 million jobless last year

WHO controls all this anyway?

WHO are "They"?

If there's too many people without the ability to create jobs (get loans --credit worthiness), and too few unskilled jobs needed due to automation, this is what you get.

It's as if the system is designed to squeeze out those deemed unworthy of offering basic services, ie useless eaters, due to technological progression.

We're going to have to find a solution for this. Maybe this is a (temporary) solution to yet an even larger problem --limitations of growth-- .

Also, if other countries have adopted the same changes in ways to go about measuring employment, then it's much higher than 200 million.

If the Global figure is 200 Million for people without jobs, then that makes me wonder what the actual figure is for those who are Under-employed?

I think the fact of the matter is that Poverty, lack of jobs and opportunities are purposely made scarce around the globe in order to maintain a global population that continues to support the whims of those 85 people who have more than 1 trillion between them.

Maybe some folks simply don't see "working" as the end-all, be-all of human existence.

Seriously...were we put on this planet (figuratively and physically) to spend our lives toiling away or are we meant to enjoy, reproduce, laugh, cry and contribute to those same qualities in others?
