The Americans was ufocrazy in the 1950's. But it could never have been the air force own flying saucer that where sighted in the sky, because the strange test craft never hovered than 1 meter above the ground.

Edit: The so called AvroCar

Most such constructions (some even admittedly) were done under other projects such as Grudge, to help invalidate UFO sightings. Many were built knowing that they'd never get further than a demonstrable prototype for the cameras and the press.... It's actually a rather ingenius idea, and is indicative of how well the PR guys associated with the working group, were doing their job....

The Americans were UFO crazy in the 1950's but it couldn't have been the Navy flying it's own UFO's in the sky because although the Flapjack was one of the most revolutionary aeroplanes from the 1940's and was due to be fitted with Jet engines, making it both the slowest and fastest aircraft in the skies, they decided to leave the circular airframes to the 'aliens'.........orrrrrrrr did they?

Not saying that the Flapjack had any connection to Roswell, the reference to said event on the above photo came with the clip....anyway the Navy weren't flying saucers, everybody knows that.

This fine, fine piece of aeronautical aeronautical engineering (The Avrocar) has a cameo appearance in "Destroy All Humans".

It flew just about as well too.

Did anyone else catch it?

Here's an interesting link I found about the Avrocar.

www.avroland.ca...
