NAFTA AND THE DECLINE

THE BEGINNING
NAFTA took its first breath January 1, 1994, Bill Clinton signed it into law on December 8, 1993. Built to take the place of the Canada-north America free trade agreement. The idea was to allow free trade between our neighbors. To strengthen our debt based economy by not imposing taxes on imports from our neighboring countries such a Mexico and Canada. Making the USA a more business friendly country.

PANDORA’S BOX
The problem with NAFTA is that it opened Pandora’s Box for the United States under the second Bush administration. Allowing outsourcing of American jobs to countries with cheaper labor rates and cost of living. This also led to a taxation decrease for companies that were willing to source their work away from home. It gave big corporations a profit increase by cutting the labor costs and taxes. The downside to such a bold move was removing jobs from the American market. The entire George W Bush presidency brought forth a steady decline in American jobs. The decline in job growth continues today due to the Bush era tax cuts and outsourcing policies.
The American job market is smaller than ever no thanks to such radical moves. While I can understand a companies need to expand, it shouldn’t be at the expense of the American workforce. Robbing Peter to pay Paul does not work. The only thing that has happened is you have left middle class America with a serious lack of jobs, making it harder and harder for the people to take care of themselves.
They may have decreased the production cost of lots of things that were once made right here. It was wholly at the expense of our livelihood. Many have lost sight of the fact that once you take away our source of income, people won’t have the money to put back into our economy. This once great nation has been reduced to a shell of its former self.

TODAY
Obama says 2014 will be a year of action. No doubt it will be one of profit. A renewed interest in the Trans Pacific Partnership will be the basis for removing trade tariffs of member nations. Yet again boosting major corporation’s profit margins. NAFTA 2.0 will be aimed at giving the American market a competitive boost. The goal is to cut costs again, in the hope that it will spur the market to grow.
It’s just not feasible to give everyone free passes at our imports. This nation makes almost nothing for ourselves. It’s not sustainable to keep importing without taxation. All it is doing is giving Corporations more income at the expense of American jobs. NAFTA 2.0 will be the nail in the coffin of our out debt based economy. Our focus should be bringing our jobs back home. Removing the tax cuts placed by the Bush administration and giving them to companies that keep our jobs here on American soil. We need to invest in the home team and bring back jobs to our struggling economy.

THE DECLINE
While the numbers show that the economy is on the mend, it’s not true. The numbers don’t take into account people who are no longer on unemployment. It’s a facade to trick Americans into spending more money they don’t have. The thought is that it will spur economic growth. But the cold hard truth is that there will be no growth without employment. There will be more regression covers up by phony numbers spit out by the main stream media. We have supported the fat cats for too long. They have made enough off of our blood sweat and tears.
Don’t support NAFTA 2.0 unless you love your slave wages and sinking your money into objects you have to replace due to inferior craftsmanship over and over again. All the while making the few richer and richer and further segregating our nation into two camps; the elite and the slaves.

Which are you?

Nobody listened when Ross Perot said the negative effect of NAFTA was we would hear a "giant sucking sound" of jobs being lost in America. The two party system drowned him out, and it turned out he was exactly right. NAFTA only succeeded by giving into American corporate greed for higher profits and taking advantage of low wages.

And suck it did.

If you want a competitive market, you need to invest in local growth.
Tax the imports and give breaks to the home team.

Oh believe me its happening in Canada too. Skyrocketing unemployment rates, jobs being killed hand over fist, out of control inflation, out of control housing prices. You name it.

Small town Canada is the hardest hit. Once known for our thriving natural resource industry in forestry and mining, many of these small communities were the backbone of such industries. Now these places have some of the highest unemployment, crime and suicide rates in the country.

But its OK, uproot your entire life and head to the oil patch. You can live in on-site communities in the middle of nowhere or cram yourself into tightly packed cities with some of the highest cost of living in the world. If not we,re told not to complain about poverty and declining communities.

Ahhh capitalism....

well..

as of my last unemployment claim, I was one of 3 people in the system with 3 times on the NAFTA status.. out of all the others claimants.. this brought a pause to the unemployment receptionist on the other end...

yeah, from my end of things, issue is, if you're a single or married with no kids, it might be great since you can get a 2 year or 4 year degree with it.. if you have children, you're screwed, unless, you can work a 40 hour job and go to school full time and never spend time with your kids.. GREAT go for it! My hats off to ya !

If you do have kids, and can't spend the time due to feeding mouths (2 of them in my case) then, yea.. it sucks. Now what we're seeing is people with 4 year degrees can't find any jobs....STILL. Those that do, are the lucky ones.

It was a GRAND MASTER of illusion of all...ship the jobs off shore, toss in $$$ to the schools to compensate, open up the borders , flood the populace with more minorities to fill in the gaps of minimum wage jobs due to everyone going to school to get a higher education..and wala~!....

ALL the jobs are locked out or the ones that are up are flooded with 3000 people applying for 1 job. My wife applied for a payroll clerk job for the county...300 people showed up ...even those with PhD's !!!

THAT was 3 years ago ...and still can't find a job..
