Initially I received an email from one of my retired military buds: I tracked down the original article which I have linked at the bottom of this thread. I personally hope many in congress and the Senate are serving their last terms as elected officials.
I thought the letter was well written and could apply to both sides of the isle.. See link for full letter.

Please note that this request by you for a cash donation from me is extremely unfortunate and very ill-timed. You see sir; I am one of the military retirees your “bipartisan” budget just impacted. You and every Republican (both in the House and Senate that voted to pass this travesty betrayed and broke trust with me and everyone like me. You may not know us by name, but we’re the people, Congressman, who answered our Nation’s call, some of us at a very early age to willingly serve YOU and others LIKE YOU so you could safely attend college and pursue your personal ambitions without fear of harm.

Your ability to look us in the eye, take money from us (apparently there was ZERO, other source of waste within the federal government that you could have recovered this money from…right, got it), while simultaneously holding your hand out to beg (with passion) for our cash is stunning. Your actions have proven you do not have the tremendous intellect you’ve sold the American people on. I say, with all seriousness, Congressman, what you lack in intellect and spinal rigidity, you make up for in cajones.

I hope you and your cowardly, Republican “colleagues” hear a message from me loud and clear. You will NEVER receive another cent of financial support from me. Further, if you happen to be at a Capitol Hill dinner or at a K Street cocktail party with RNC Chair Reince Priebus, Rep. Ron Barber, Sen. Jeff Flake or Sen. John McCain, I would be honored if you communicate with them that I am launching an effort to ensure NONE of you traitorous “representatives of the people” ever receive another vote from a military retiree. Remove me from your contact lists.

Chuck Wooten,
Chief Master Sergeant, USAF (Ret)

Good post. I also am an Army Veteran. Fortunately I got out after 3 years so they don't get to betray me on retirement, but I am still outraged at this. The GOP talks a lot about supporting the military, it often falls short when taking care of veterans. They make sure to take good care of the defense industry though, to bad veterans don't get that same sort of treatment too. The GOP is not your friend veterans!

13M MLRS here. STEEL RAIN! I served 3 years and got out. I'm glad I didn't stay in with the way the government treats us. Apparently we are second class citizens, but all those shiny new toys (that we cannot use since no other military has even close to our operating strength) need to get funding. Of course just look at the VA, is it surprising that we get the short end of the stick? Again...

They have bumped it up to 3.1 billion now. Had Paul Ryan and Romney gotten elected things would be even worst for the vets than they are now.

I am beyond disgusted.

"Get another job", says Ryan.

Ryan, you pompous ass!

Years ago I left the republican party in disgust, hoping that others would fill seats and bring back some spine, integrity, honor, dignity to our civilian leadership.

*spits*

The republican party is nothing more than the democrat party wearing nicer ties.

It is the disgusting abuse and negation of a PROMISE, that has shown that politicians in DC are nothing but self-serving egotists who pander to the person closest to them, then forgetting them a second later.

Everyone has their own red line.

Everyone has their own personal "final straw".

This overt abuse of veterans is mine. We have done NOTHING but serve honorably. And to be treated like a Kleenex, to be discarded after usage, is an insult to OUR honor, it is an insult to OUR integrity, it is an insult to every man and woman who gave their lives for something they believed in.

Frack it.

I'm going ronin.

I would like to see almost all of the self serving feather bedding politicals taken out during mid term and the rest gone during the next presidential election.. The two party system has ended up like a paint can with two colors that has been stirred shaken...... mixed into some color no one recognizes anymore. Either way let us hope many in D.C. will be calling for a moving van.

Don't think for an instant that this little bunny is just sitting and ranting on a conspiracy site.

I'm a very political animal (all bunnies are).

And I will do my part to see that incumbents are ousted in my area.

According to this article, it would appear that the proposal to cut military pensions originated from Paul Ryan and NOT Patty Murray or the democratic party.

www.politico.com...

And at least one person close to the issue is pointing a finger at Murray’s Republican counterpart, the chairman of the House Budget Committee.
“This was something that Ryan pushed for,” said a source close to the negotiations, discussing the issue on the condition of not being identified.

Furthermore, (according to the same article) it was Patty Murray who not only explained that there is still time to stop this from happening, (as it doesn't actually take affect until 2015) but she's also the one proposing immediate action to limit the scope of the cuts by exempting disabled vets.

The Washington state Democrat made clear on the Senate floor this week there is time to replace the pension cut before it kicks in at the end of 2015, though she hasn’t endorsed any specific plan for change.
She’s also promising a “fix” next year that would exempt all disabled veterans.

I think I heard something in the news about this disabled vet exemption just yesterday.

Truth be told, the GOP has never really supported the "people" serving in the armed forces, any more than they support the common working man or woman here in America. It's the "defense industry" that they actually support, not the men & women who wear the uniform.

Same article;

Behind the scenes, though, some are celebrating the pension cut as an unexpected victory. The defense industry, in particular, stands to gain from the deal, which would provide $63 billion in sequester relief over the next two years, split between defense and nondefense programs.

Eisenhower warned us about this.

I get the dudes anger, he should be pissed off. All vets should be pissed off. All Americans should be pissed off. ALL. Not right wing americans. Not left wing americans. Not veteran americans. Not civilian americans. ALL AMERICANS should be PISSED OFF. So he had me until this:

The very law you shattered in your zeal to impress your Democratic cohorts in your back room deal--with the enemy. Yes, I said it. The liberal Democrats are an enemy to the American people and our Nation. Your lack of judgement and eagerness to compromise on the backs of us who protected you is sickening. Congressman, you and every Republican that voted for injuring military retirees have engaged in a complicit, sordid affair with the Democrats who's objective has always been to dismantle the military. By climbing into their bed on this issue, you have confirmed you are absolutely no better than they and have proven it with your vote.

IMO, nearly every elected politician, regardless of the letter after their name is the enemy. They are stark naked in their allegiance to money rather than the people.
