Howdy Y’all,
The topic of this thread is based upon my hypothesis, which I believe that the Earth is geographically- shifting on a daily, if/and/or regular basis. One point of evidence, which could reaffirm this hypothesis, lies in the constant changing in the positioning of, and/or re-aligning of global GPS systems. I have personally heard from an individual whom is “in the know”—(A guy I will call “Mack”, he manages the airport, of which the first 300 feet of the W approach, lays on my property). Basically, I own the first 300 feet of the West end of the airport. The airport, (Avoca Airport, www.airnav.com/airport/39G‎), is marked on global GPS systems, and is the primary back-up airport for the St. Clair County Int’l Airport.

The guy I spoke of earlier, Mack, (who manages the GPS, radio, and other systems for the airport), was telling me some pretty crazy sHiTe on day. Mack first asked me, if I knew about how the global GPS systems were being changed, “behind the scenes”, to which I replied “yes”. I know about magnetic-pole drift, and how it is a natural phenomenon. But I also know that the progression, of this process, has increased by multiples of factors (like a snowball effect).

Mack then told me about how, a few months prior, the GPS systems had indicated a dramatic change in the Earth’s position. This change occurred over a several hour time period, and (according to Mack’s words), seemed as though the entire Earth had tipped over a few degrees, then slid back to its original spot…in a time-frame, of just a couple hours. All of this really didn’t surprise me that much, until He told me exactly WHEN this had happened. Mack explained that the day in which this had occurred…..was the same day that the giant Boeing 777, landed short of the runway (and hit the stop abutment), out in California.

Now, I know most of you will just harass, or try to belittle me…but in all honesty, I really don’t care. This is just what ‘ole Mack-Daddy had told me, and knowing this guy as the straight-shooter that he is…I am inclined to believe him. Also, I had researched how the flight paths on the Boeing 777 are pre-calculated PRIOR to takeoff. So knowing that the exact coordinates are pre-set before you takeoff…it stands to reason, that if the Earth tilted as Mack had stated, the plane would be off on its descent. The plane would not give any indication, or warning that you were off the runway, because according to its original pre-set flight path…nothing had changed. However, this is in spite of the fact, that the Earth itself had moved, which would obviously either make the plane land short (as it did), or to over-shoot its descent vector.

Anyways, this is just something I thought I would share, so take it or leave it…it is what it is.

this would be good and all.. but commercial airliners dont use GPS to land their aircraft.. they use a ILS which is airport dependant.. youd be crazy to land using GPS..

not so much any more

FAA page on GPS approaches

Airliners.net tech ops forum

AS for the OP - it's an interesting story.....but that's all it is unless you can find a better source IMO.

Let's face it - if the earth had shifted several degrees in the time of that 777 flight and it had actually mattered then the a/c would have tried to land in the ocean or the hills or somewhere off to one side.....not 100 feet low!

What you are saying is basically true however; non precision ADF or VOR approaches are used all the time (ILS down or for practice of non PAR) and there are certified GPS approaches that are also used for training and backup. With the flight management system (FMS) on the 777 you can program any type of published approach and the aircraft will fly and land itself with auto land; it is just the minimums for missed approach are higher and the fake glide slope has to be entered.. To my knowledge their are no certified auto land GPS approaches they only exist for CAT 1, 11. and cat 111 approaches.. However I have been out of it since 2005 so maybe things have changed.... also, it does not mean it can't or has not been done certified or not. We used to have to program an ADF approach with a glideslope after the final approach fix with the FMS but never tried an auto land in that configuration ?.. hahaha I never like auto land anyway because I felt I could do a better job myself.. However even in 2005 we had GPS non precision approaches that were available and used at many airport all over the world to include the USA

As far as the Op's post I have no idea and have not looked at the particular accident referenced as outcome of earth tilt or any other cause for that matter. The 777 I seem to remember which landed short was a total pilot error, stall, no auto throttle engagement even though the speed bug was set and the crew and line check pilot thought the auto throttles were engaged; dumb mistake by an inexperienced crew in type...

Interesting but I must admit I have a hard time believing in the effect or the possible cause in the ops post....

I too have noticed the gps going haywire since november. Also I know this might sound crazy, but I saw the sky spilling over like a waterfall. And yes I was sober when I experienced this.

I watched the 'National Geographic: How to survive the end of the world' television series and one of the episodes named "Frozen Earth" was pretty much what you mentioned. In fact the show starts with a plane trying to land and discovers the GPS or whatever is wrong and they crash into a cruise ship mistaking the ships lighting for a landing strip.
The scenario is the Earth is slowly being pulled out of it's usual orbit and into space due to some unseen force. Since we are no longer in the "Goldilock Zone" the Earth's surface would start to freeze and go into an ice age of mega proportions.

It's some of the best doom porn. Scary stuff. Here is a clip.

But if the Earth moved, wouldn't every landing at every airport be affected at that moment? Why just that 777 when there are over 1000 in service, plus all the other types of aeroplane?

don't forget every astronomer too

and of course - don't even ask for the physics of how the earth just " moved " then " moved back "

Well, it's EASY. All you need is for the laws of physics to be revoked.

If they aren't, well, you're going to need a lot of energy. The Earth is really massive, and it's spinning at a pretty good clip. You can't just shift the spin axis over a few hours. Not without being Galactus or something. The Earth's got about 2E29 Joules of rotational energy going on with that spin. That's a lot of angular momentum. You can't just grab the poles and roll it over, not without God's Own Torque.

Next, the Earth isn't solid, not on that scale. Nothing's tied down either. So when you start "moving the axis", you're going to have a lot of loose things like you, me, trees, houses and the like that are suddenly going to want to fly away, since they were moving in a particular direction at several hundred miles an hour. Now you're skewing that. So, it's going to be more than noticeable. And oh, those continent things, and that crust part? Buckled and smashed all to bits, because you know, it's pretty massive and you're changing the direction IT'S going as well.

The "oh the axis of the Earth moved" folk are the ones that skipped out on General Physics I. It's under the gyroscopes, angular momentum section.

eta:

When you run to wiki to look, you're going to eventually find "precession" and "nutation". That happens to the Earth too. But it's very very very slow, and not very large in amplitude.

simpler : any force on the earth sufficient to affect its axis would cause abberant tides world wide

Most of the ocean would fly off into space, so I think "aberrant" doesn't QUITE cover it.

You may not have been drinking but it sounds like you were, what we call, "tripping like crazy".

One way you can tell you are tripping is when the sky starts spilling over like a waterfall, or you can taste colors, or the surf sits there, rock solid, while the buildings all wash up and down.

If the earth moved even a tiny spec... A lot more than some measly GPS system on some plane would be affected. The moon, sun, ocean, all of it. Didn't Mack go to elementary school?

GPS will never be far off. Once the positioning data within the satellite gets to a certain degree off, the personnel running the GPS constellation correct it. There is no way all the satellites providing your position would be off all at the same time.
