Those lesser countries also do not have militaries because they have effectively outsourced their national security to us and rely on us to keep stability.

If they had to actually have their own defense budgets, meaningful ones, not mere window dressing, they wouldn't be able to sustain the systems they have. As it is, most of them still operate at a deficit.

Great Post!! The one thing to mention though, is you forgot to continue to follow the money. It doesn't stop at the Insurance companies, it goes back into the Democrat or Republicans CAMPAIGN FUNDS.

The entire Healthcare industry is a scam. When there is innovation, there is cost savings. Look at any other industry and when technological advances are made, things get cheaper for the consumer. So, where the heck are our cost savings in Healthcare??????

The gov't and insurance companies have been stealing our savings the last 30 years. Now Obamacare just adds to it. They are all in bed with each other and in the end, the common middle class folks get the rusty pitchfork where the sun don't shine.

Obama had said that his signature healthcare reform law would help cut back on government spending by reducing trips to the ER, the Daily Caller reports.

The study, published in the journal Science and released on Thursday, shows that the nearly 4 million new patients subsidized by government under the expansion of Medicaid are more likely to end up seeking treatment in emergency rooms for non-emergency health problems than before they entered the program.

The number of costly emergency room visits is set to soar under Obamacare, according to a "gold standard" Harvard study, which directly contradicts claims by President Barack Obama that his healthcare law would cut ER trips.

The millions of people who have just been enrolled in Medicaid will go to ERs on a regular basis instead of their local doctors, according to the research.

So, are people starting to figure out this has nothing to do with healthcare but everything to do with destroying 1/6 of America's economy let alone the people that will self destruct with no insurance.

I thought this was to insure people with no insurance and stop people from loosing everything they own with catastrophic health events.

The people that contribute next to nothing are now covered with subsidies and the tax base people that work are without insurance.

Does anyone really think this administration is this insanely stupide or are people starting to see what is really happening ??

I am no businessman. I work with computers. I do things in a modal sense of reality. The intricacies of a "deal" are beyond me. I'm far too tempted to tell someone to go and s#$%w themselves.

However, we needed a change.

What we got was crap....but, it was a START for change. We had no other option being provided...and hopefully, this will evolve into something good. I am no naive child, as I said, I hope this leads to real change in a positive manner for all of us here in the US.

But, I can tell you one thing. It certainly wasn't going to happen if we stayed the way we were. I see this as simply being the first of many steps. At least, that's what I hope it is.

And don't get me wrong....I am the first person to tell you how messed up it was. $600Million for a freaking website? Crap...I can do EVERYTHING needed to create such a website, and do it for well under $1 million, and be able to deliver palpable and working results in under 30 days. Web coding, underlying databases, ERP system to handle the transactions, ETL to handle inbound data from the medical and pharmaceutical field, outbound interface files to connect with external systems, even SOAP based messaging on a publish/subscribe setup on the web services, you name it, I can do it. That's what I do for a living. So yes, we were screwed and we can still feel hands on our hips from behind on that one.

Accenture taking it over? Might as well ask the fox to guard the henhouse. I've already posted my thoughts about Accenture as I used to work for them, and have worked with them far too many times to count.


Again, and one last time.....nothing was going to improve the way things were. Change, creates at least some degree of momentum. Hopefully, this momentum will carry through into something worthwhile. That is all I said, and all I meant.

This doesn't make any sense, change for the worse does not equate to change for the better. I will say this for the 10th time on ATS, the democrats had both houses and the presidency. They could have passed any healthcare law they wanted - THEY WANTED OBAMACARE. They wanted it because they get the most bribes for helping out corporations and not the people and therefore that is the interests they serve.

If obamacare is creating any momentum it is for its repeal, and a return to our crappy old system, which is in fact much better than obamacare, but still quite crappy.

A misleading title. 1 Trillion was pre-planned and spread over 10 years. Not "One Month". Actually, ObamaCare was signed into law on 3/23/2010.

This has been debated since the bill was in congress to be passed, Obama I don't care is the biggest to become bailout in the nation for the insurance companies at the expenses of the productive tax payer, that will be double dammed with supporting the insurance profit making while keeping them from losing with the none productive covered class.

As usual the poor do not give two rat arses because they want hand outs, the rich have not problem as they makes the money and the government just wants somebody to screw and claim a legacy and insurance wants their profit margins.

I freakin hate this!!!! This was to be expected, so no real surprise in hearing this. Corporations always get bailed out leaving the working class to suffer and pay more. Its really disappointing that Obama mislead the American public...yet again! This is the era of the wealthy, the dollars just keep multiplying meanwhile the dollars continue to fall from the majority. If only the majority and I mean the majority, unite and protest against the government. That's the only way we'll really see a change for the better...for everyone.

Except that if you look at the parts of the industry that don't rely on insurance, costs do come down with innovation. Plastic surgery is a good example as is lasik. Both markets are steadily more affordable to everyone as new innovations make them more accessible.

And neither one is covered by insurance or has government insurance meddling.

So, what do you think would happen if the medical market was more like that with a lot less middle man interference.

Less of a premium, half the deductible, and no threat hanging over our head that it'll get scrapped next fall and leave us with a premium bill equal to our current mortgage which will bankrupt us.

Oh, and if we do find a way to pay ... then we have to hope no one gets sick because the deductible will bankrupt us.

So, facing imminent bankruptcy v. not facing imminent bankruptcy.

I hope the US government hands out jars of Vaseline before the bail-out.

It will make what is about to come a little more comfortable to bear.

Obamacare is not going to be repealed because it is what the Corporations want. Corporations want low cost labor that they don't have to insure. They can then work employees to death without any liability for the cost of their health care. The Health Insurers pick up all of the liability and spread the risk over the majority of workers in the insurance pools. The Health Insurance Corporation's losses are covered by the Government and Taxpayers because Big Business and the Corporations no longer want the responsibility of caring for their employees. Workers have become a disposable asset.

Unless you "own the means of production" you are a worker, and therefore disposable. A shareholder in a large corporation would be construed as owning "a share" of the means of production. Return On Investment is the primary goal. Insuring an employee's health is a risk Wall Street is no longer willing to finance.

Where we had people unable to afford basic healthcare, and thus clogging up the ER system as a result, driving hospital prices even higher than they already were.

They are still coming to the ER for the sniffles.
We paid for them then, we still pay for them now... we just pay a lot more.

The biggest change we have seen from Obamacare is the amount of money leaving our pockets. And this is just the beginning!
