If I can tag another onto the topic, I have gotten a pop-up on my Nexus 7 about 20 times in the last few days saying "Your Android has a virus" and something along the lines of "Fix it Now?"
it only happens on ATS, and I always hit the back button immediately.

Happens to me as well. I've got 2 smartphones and a tablet and it happens on all of them. Just starts automatically downloading something called "porn69.apk" or similar and happens on both wifi and data connection.

Has been happening on my iPad, then pushes me to the App Store. Very annoying, can't say the fiancé is pleased.

Well I would hope you'd give the staff more than just a few hours to deal with this problem?!

As opposed to jumping the gun like that..

In any case, you should have filed an alert with staff, not created a thread, as it's much easier for us to get alerts.

I have done this for you and it'll be looked after.

The ads on this site have gotten pretty bad, and even malicious over the past year. I'm all about supporting sites I frequent, but I can't help but to keep this site adblocked when there are ads sporadically placed that have audio automatically blaring on one of the 10 tabs I have open.. and it's usually not obvious where they are to mute them.

If I want to hear what an ad has to say, I'll click the unmute button and listen to it. My speakers or off limits to advertisements, or into the adblock bin they go.

I've not been able to replicate this issue in iOS or Android?

Are these seen through the browser or "home screen" version of the site? If browser, stock or third party?

I'm going to disable most ads in the mobile versions while trying to test more on this end.

We've also identified a new ad partner, exclusively for mobile, who guarantees these types of things won't happen.

More soon.

After the changes I made, that's actually a big help.

My best guess is that someone buying ads through Google EU for Spain was able to get noncompliant ad creative through the sometimes lax approval process for non-US mobile ads.

I'm really amazed the effort you pulled into this and from my part there is so much more respect now to you and your site you cannot imaging

I don't ever remember getting the malicious ad popups when I was logged in. But I usually do not log in when on my mobile. I have not seen the porn ads or any of the other things described here. Just the "Your Android has a Virus" popup. My suspicion is the ad detects and adapts to the browser identification string. I am using FireFox on a Nexus 7. Thank you very much for giving this attention. I am impressed that you are looking into this personally . : )
