You do understand that that's almost half of the adult population? 300 plus million Americans, minus the children and the elderly. Maybe 200 million working age americans, that would suggest that nearly 45 percent of all working age Americans have no jobs. It's staggering no matter how you twist the numbers..

And these people are being labeled as lazy, drug taking bums by the media, politicians and every other idiot who doesn't realize how lucky he is to still have a gig.

Imagine what national projects could be built by 20 Million people...

Okay its not that people have stopped looking for jobs its that they don't use the damn useless unemployment office after the money runs out, well at least in my state I have never seen a job worth taking from the unemployment office, its like all the good jobs are scooped up and given out the people in the know and only short term minimum wage jobs are left. So why would anyone still report to a place when they stop paying you?

Lots of things could be built but who wants to pay 15$ an hour for unskilled labor. Skilled labor pays at leas twice that and they still can't find enough people.

IMO the employment offices only have minimum-wage types of jobs because that's about all there is left in the U.S. Most of our major corporations offshore their production to places where taxes and wages are cheaper. The U.S. is no longer the land of opportunity for the world.

It has always been the case, too, that the privileged classes circulate news about hiring only amongst themselves, thereby ensuring that the better jobs and the wealth stay in the same hands generation after generation.

There is no reason to blame President Obama or the Democrats particularly, since these practices have been going on for a long time now, way before our current President and many presidents before them.

I have read that there are increase in job opportunities this year because of the recovery of the economy. When unemployment applications fall, it is generally interpreted as a sign that the job market will pick up. While gains in the job market may not be as rapid as in the volatile early months of the year, it should pick up even if the number of unemployment claims remains steady. The nation is seeing a moderate growth in hiring, states the United States Department of Labor. Economic growth is one aspect of the process of economic development, thus, we can expect to have more job opportunities to open.

Nothing like the 'ol college try eh.

Many new jobs are part time and service related low pay.

Many jobs are out of balance with student loan amounts too.

Thats because theres no entry level jobs anymore and education is unfordable.
