After reading this document, I am in fear, a very deep and true fear. I do not post this lightly, and I beg you to consider this as an american citizen. In fact it states that what I am doing, could even label me as an enemy of the state, with a very broad definition as how.

Many Thanks Fellow ATS'ers

I feel the same way ADHD
The thing is, no one seems to know, and when you try and tell them, the nationalist come out and attempt to stifle your views. Ive even used the ignore button a few times
I started a thread on this a week or so ago. I expressed the same views as you, and went into great depth as to why I thought our country was loosing its liberties.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Be aware ADHD. Whatch the happenings around you and be mindful of your freedoms. You know the truth, and so do alot of us. As long as we know what the're trying to do, we can keep being vocal about it and get the word out to more people. You will encounter alot of people here who will try and tell you that your wrong. DONT LISTEN TO THEM! They are the very people who support our corrupt system now.

The problem with the patriot act is that is not define line for the exercise of it.

I can be interpreted in the way that it seems to fix the one in charge and it can be apply to any situation regarless of the outcome.

Yes even you or me can use the patriot act to our advantage.

Just tag somebody a "terrorist" and that is all you need.

They'll find a way to get that Patriot Act 2 through. They can easily make another terrorist attack, it's been done with 9/11 already.

Read here.

It kind of reminds me of the Witch Hunts in Salem, or the Communist hearings of the 50's and 60's.

Every generation I suppose has their witch hunts.

"If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason." -- Jack Handey

There's nothing wrong with questioning everything our government does. However, at some point, well, I think you get the idea...

I'm just waiting for the knock on my door.
In the past our fabled leaders and their governing bodies have used less obvious methods to silence or eliminate whatever or whoever they deem a threat in it's own population.
(e.g. disinformation, ridicule, slander, defamation of character, trumped up charges etc...)
But in the times we live in now I guess those methods are not efective anymore and more radical methods are forthcoming?
The more power a government gets the less it has to hide it's methods. Once totalitarianism is reached then we will see the true side of our ruling classes. That's what makes this all so scary.
Once the people have no say or power to resist, then why would the gov bother to apease us anymore?
And what better way to silence people than put the fear of being considered a terrorist in them? A little more subtle than a bullet in the head, but just as effective and cleaner. Either way it's oppression of free speach, no different to all the other countries we claim to be better than because we claim to be free. Russia, China, Cuba etc... etc...
We are all being duped! Blacks, whites, Iraqi's, American's.
It's all a game for those who have everything.

Scary stuff indeed.

Maybe we will all meet in a detention camp some day? LOL

On the bright side at least we won't be paying bills anymore!

But seriously folks, part of me would love to see the looks on all the sheeple that stand so blindly behind our "shepherds" faces when they first realize they got their wish. Even if they don't strip us of ALL of our freedoms, start getting used to the idea of living in a country where everything deemed offensive to downhome folk in the midwest will be gone. The funny thing is, there will be alot of men with "strong moral values" in this country seriously missing their porn.
What will Bill O'Reilly do?

It is a website much like this one, you more or less choose to believe what you may.

As far as the source of the report, it comes from an independent media source known as infowars.com.

The laws within the patriot act have been available to the public through various media sources, independent and main stream. Like all things worth investigating, always do your own research. I have to use a another quote here... The Truth is Out There.

Many Thanks,

I read the article posted on Rense, written by Alex Jones, and it seemed familiar to me. So I checked my bookmarks and guess what - it looks like a summation of an ACLU analysis of the Patriot Act II.

Alex Jones wrote:

SECTION 102 of the new Patriot Act ll states clearly that any information gathering, regardless of whether or not those activities are illegal, can be considered to be clandestine intelligence activities for a foreign power. This makes news gathering illegal.

What section 102 actually says and the ACLU's analysis:

Permitting surveillance of the lawful activities of United States citizens and lawful permanent residents if they are suspected of gathering information for a foreign power

Lawful gathering of information for a foreign organization does not necessarily pose any threat to national security. This amendment would permit electronic surveillance of a local activist who was preparing a report on human rights for London-based Amnesty International, a foreign political organization, even if the activist was not engaged in any violation of law.

So while I don't think much of Rense or Jones in this case it does seem that they have simply rewritten and summarized an ACLU document. Don't know how the ACLU would feel about it but that's another story.

The entire text can be found here and has a much better analysis than the Rense article.

Thank the gods for the ACLU
B.

That full outline by the ACLU, is even scarier.

Damn, where are our inalienable rights spoken of by our founding fathers?

We are doomed America, Please if you value your freedom call your local congresspersons attention to this.

Many Thanks,

Many will say "the Patriot Act won't hurt you if you aren't a terrorist."

This is far from the truth. An extremely close friend of mine was arrested under the Patriot Act in 2002 on September 9th. Why? Here is the tale: she and a friend and her brother and one of his friends were walking through Wal Mart. The two boys (age 15) bought ski masks (like the one Jason wears). They wore them while walking through the store. Theyw ent to the cash register and purchased the masks while wearing them. They bought nothing else.

Driving down the road in their car, about 20 police cars surrounded them. THey pulled over and jumped out of the car, the boys were still wearing the masks. They were searched at gunpoint, then arrested for terrorist conspiracy.

She was in jail for 2 days. The boys were in for about a week.

What terrorist activity occured? I guess legally buying a mask a few days before the anniversary of September 11 is a definite terrorist act. Thank you Patriot Act!

This was 2002, the year is now 2004. With the Patriot Act II, how far will the envelope be pushed?

I for one, have nothing to say except "
"

PS- My band plays extremely politcal rock music, and one of our songs is titled "Terrorist of the Year." We've decided to hold an annual award for the terrorist of the year, and in honor of her, we gave her the supreme title :-D

My advice to all you folks who realize what is happening: Get out and get out now. Nazi Germany was only 60 years ago; maybe in your parents lifetime. Don't think it can't happen in yours. Don't think it can't happen in the "Land of the Free". Next engineered "terrorist" attack and the bubble is going to burst. Start making plans tomorrow. Take your families with you. Simple as that.

is that really our only option to either leave this country or become supressed?
how hard would it be to repeal both acts? is there hope when bush gets out of office and when was the patriot act II passed?

If there were no ACLU there would be no need for the Partiot Act. Furthermore, much of what is in the Patriot Act was first proposed by Janet Reno after she murdered all those kids at Waco and after the Oklahoma bombing. Bush had little to do with this Act. That aside, I am also opposed to this Act as I am also Opposed to big government. Lastly, the inter-agency problems that allowed 911 to happen were put in place by EO from Clinton.
