More Emoticon Blues

Just wanted to chime in on new emotes ,and while I do appreciate the effort put into these, I think they are horrible. They make the post look like a kindergartener's writing board, very child like.(no offense kindergarteners)
While they may play out with some of our more light hearted posts and discussions, they could seem offensive in a serious discussion and/or presentation. I think the green background with dark details is much better than these dark bg with green details.

I don't mean to be a complain' and such but golly gee whiz, it just seems so kid like.
I dos like the thumbs though.

Not wanting to complain, but I have to agree. The contrast between the type color and the brightness of the emoticons seems too much of a clash, and when writing posts now the brightness of the little guys on the bottom of the screen is jarring. The emoticons in the OP seem to blend in very well with their surroundings.

What I wanna know is why they didnt just bring back the old ones
I can understand if they cost the site money to use but I assume this isnt the case, I gotta admit its kinda pissing me off they made the effort to change them again yet didnt just change them back

A quick search shows countless threads with literally hundreds of flags and stars in support of the old ones, after the change the only complaint that didnt die after a week or so was the emoticons.
Im starting to think TPTB are doing this out of ego

I asked the same question and it seems the effort was for pads and the go emoticons were too small. Why not enlarge them then I wonder. They had so much character and seems perfect for ATS.
I had just got used to the last ones and now another change.
Ego? Perhaps, but I think it is more an effort to make things fun and social networky like, which I understand, but only to a point. It just seems gamey and too novel.
