Polish hostage Teresa Bork Halifax has been freed by her captors. Halifax was taken captive from her apartment in Baghdad last month. The news of her freedom was delivered by the Polish prime minister. Abu Bakr al-Siddiq Fundamentalist Brigades had claimed responsibility for the kidnapping and had demanded the withdraw of Polish troops from Iraq.

WARSAW, Poland - A Polish woman who was abducted last month from her apartment in Baghdad has been freed, the Polish prime minister said Saturday.

The hostage, Teresa Borcz Khalifa, "has been freed. She's here and healthy," Prime Minister Marek Belka told reporters in Warsaw. "Officials of different services took part in her release in cooperation with institutions from many countries."

Belka refused to give any more details, citing security concerns.

Borcz Khalifa, 54, a longtime Baghdad resident, was shown in captivity in videos aired on Al-Jazeera on Oct. 28 and Oct. 30. Her captors, calling themselves, the Abu Bakr al-Siddiq Fundamentalist Brigades, demanded the withdrawal of Polish troops from Iraq.

The release comes on the heels of the killing of Margaret Hassan. It is unclear as to why Khalifa was released. Perhaps the worldwide outrage and condemnation of the Hassan killing convinced them that releasing her would be the thing to do.

Who here thinks the Polish government made a deal with the terrorist to release this Polish woman? Or maybe they realized that kidnapping is wrong, evil and against the word of Allah. Or perhaps they ran out of blades...

Well, someone worked out a deal. That's made clear in the article. The conditions under which she was held were very different from others we have heard about, what with the "decent" treatment and all.

You cannot seriously believe this poorly written screed of blatant, flagrant lies from a source that has been spewing innanities for, at the very least, weeks now. The credibility meter drops to near zero.
