If you have ever read the Gospel of Jesus you will find that Jesus favored Judas more than the other disciples and even was glad that Judas handed him over to the authorities to be put to death. Jesus went on to say that this world we live in is a world of chaos that needs to be escaped. This tends to paint a picture that one needs to commit suicide to escape this world and get to the "true god." What I don't understand though is that if Jesus wanted to die so bad, he could have just killed himself instead of waiting for the authorities to do it. The book never mentions Jesus dying for any ones sins or being the savior of mankind other than bestowing the knowledge that there is a higher god than the creator god.

Do you think Jesus had a suicidal attitude in the Gospel of Judas?

My understanding from the Gospel of Judas was that his death was more of a statement and was done for impact.
Slitting your wrists or hanging yourself is nowhere near as sexy as the whole scourging and crucifying thing

Like the poster above me said, Jesus had to die at the hands of the Jews and Romans or else the reformation of the Jewish religion most likely wouldn't have taken off and Christianity might have died off. Maybe Jesus had a dark outlook on life once he realized he would have to die and he accepted his fate

Not necessarily.
In the gospels, Jesus taught that the world is temporary and that its better to stay focussed on the world to come.....BUT he did not teach any one to take a shortcut out of this world.

What I don't understand though is that if Jesus wanted to die so bad, he could have just killed himself instead of waiting for the authorities to do it.

What makes you think Jesus wanted to die so bad?
Jesus knew what was coming and prayed for the ''cup'' to be taken from him, in the sense he was looking for a way out.

Taking your own life would be considered bad, as you destroy the precious gift of life you'are supposed to respect and worship. Isn't it ?

Suicide would create a very different perspective...

Or am I wrong ?

Let's hypothetically say that the Romans choose instead to put Jesus in jail and torture him every day but still keep him alive. Do you think god is really so small minded that he would judge Jesus for killing himself to go home to god?

Judging people who kill themselves are for god and god alone. And if Jesus was meant to continue preaching on earth at that time then god could have easily dumped a million souls here to wake up for their mission to keep Jesus safe. Was not meant to be.

Some people who killed themselves are meant to go home to god.

It is all about how well the soul can handle struggling on earth. The more disconnected with this place, the harder it is to stay on this place in it's un-evolved state. Dying when you know you are safe is easy, living in a place that you do not like is harder.

God would have if it wasn't causing his original plan, to loose it's meaning in the process.

Although it's still a matter faith if you believe it to be true though. If you don't God won't be around saving people either.

Even if Jesus had done something that was not of god's original plan then god would have fixed it so that "what is" would have change towards the plan again. One soul awoken here, one soul awoken there and a little synchronicity there and the plan is a go again. When you decide where what soul goes where then you can control everything.

God knows what god is doing. I might not like "what is" on this planet right now. But it is a "work in progress" as it was meant to be.

Actually when you read the Gospel of Jesus, or more specifically, the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John it is quite clear that John was closer to Jesus than any other of the 12 disciples. Having said that, one could certainly make the argument for Peter considering Jesus declared that he would build His church on him. Jesus knew Judas would betray Him from the start. Jesus called Judas a devil from the start. The "gospel" of Judas is not God breathed... it is not holy spirit inspired. It is just one of MANY false gospels out there. Judas was predestined to play his role in the arrest and ultimate crucifixion of Jesus.

Wow doesn't him knowing about Judas betrayal, and that it was supposed to happen, caused Jesus to cut Judas some slack... Someone had too... According the gospel of Judas though, Judas was closer to Jesus then the others, worthy to do an unimaginable thing...

I have a copy of the gospel of judas and it is actually a Gnostic text writen several centurys after the time of christ and is essentialy a fake as is the gospel of mary Magdalene another fake, these things have become best sellers ever since tom browns davinci code which he has since admited was pure fiction but try telling that to the ones whom have convinced themselves the figure on the painting is mary magdalene.
It trys to portray Judas as christs closest and most loved apostle whom was selected by christ to betray him and new the part he had to play, that the betrayal was an act of obedience to christ and that he was in fact the true apostle so please place it alongside the other fakerys such as the devils bible.

The book of Enoch however is most likely genuine as there were several copys found, there are some really interesting textual variations coming to light with the nag hammadi research and the qumran scrolls that show possible variation on the texts that may have not been mainstream (the nag hammadi were probably gnostic tradition and buried at a time of persecution against the gnostic sects in egypt) so there are some genuine texts out there and when the conclave of nicenea was convened a list of texts to go into a standardized bible was first drawn up as prior to this the arguably more vibrant christianity was based on many differing interpretations and the emperor wished to standardize the religion throughout the empire, it is claimed for instance the his mother helena had him remove all passages to reincarnation from the bible though today we still see little peeks peering through such as the wheels of the chariot of ezekial (see the wheel of dharma from hinduism for comparison) as they reasoned that people would never repent if they thought they had several lifetimes in which to do so but is was actually fairly accepted among many early christian sects and also puts another spin on god making him seem a little less cruel.

Those gospels are way older then the movie though. The gospels in the NT are also written years after Christ...

Since gnostic Christians were first and the NT got introduced later. Gnostic scriptures are at least to be taken seriously.

Although even older scriptures exist is well.

Anyway.

Enjoy !

There is really no need to speculate one way or another since it will not be the truth seen from Jesus side. I can get the real information on what really happened when I die.
