When the outside terrorists move into town the people just look the other way. With all of the personal weapons in Iraq you would think they would kill the terrorist themselves. Why don't they?

I hardly believe that the U.S. really knows what's going on in Iraq, and who exactly they are fighting with.

This is going to be one immortal blemmish on America, this 'war on terror'.

You cannot force democracy onto any society that is still based on tribes. It simply will not work, they rule through oppression, fear and corruption. So polarized are the people into their tribes that secterian violence and civil unrest can only be controled through oppressive rule.Only a fool is so certain that his culture is worthy of replacing another

You make a very good point about self-determination when it comes to Iraq. Given the culture and the history of the nation, they will not take well to being told what kind of democracy they should have. They argue without end in Iraq on how to govern the nation.
Even now, they have a very fragile government which is fulled to the brim with corruption. The different sections of their government are all pretty much trying to either kill or control each other. Foreign powers should simply leave Iraq alone to work out the direction it wants to take as a nation. The only people who should be doing nation building in Iraq is Iraq itself.
