Here we go.

Looks like people are living the nightmare already.

Patients are being told their coverage isn't verified.

They are being told to pay the bills. Not that it matters since much of the "coverage" would actually start *After* you pay through the deductibles anyway.

Loads of bureaucratic confusion and shocked people.

Have fun when the insurance companies roll out the red tape when you try to file a late claim later.

'They had no idea if my insurance was active or not!': Obamacare confusion reigns as frustrated patients walk out of hospitals without treatment

MailOnline spoke with patients who were told they would have to pay their bills in full if they couldn't prove they had insurance

One was faced with a $3,000 hospital room charge and opted to leave the hospital after experiencing chest pains

'Should I be in the hospital? Probably,' she said

Another, coughing in the cold, walked out without receiving a needed chest x-ray

Consumers face sticker-shock from medical costs under the new Obamacare system, made worse if they can't prove they're insured

As many as one-third of new enrollees' applications have seen problems when the government transmits them to insurance companies

The Gremlins are HERE !

Why is this "law" still in place?
It is so freaking obvious how fatally flawed this "law" actually is, in more ways than a few.
My opinion- they need the law to fail- so they can usher in the single payer.

Really- what does the Democratic party do when all of their constituents are just as screwed over as the people they were originally trying to screw over? I will tell you what- there will be no party-unless the law is replaced and repealed.

Democrats-Republicans-Independants- Doesnt matter- Everyone is getting screwed. Everyones health is at risk.

Anyone who voted for this law- should be physically escorted out of office by the Sheriffs for breaking the law and effecting peoples health by denying them the services they need.

With all the drama, lies, confusion and malfunctioning going on with ACA......well, I don't know about you, but I sure as hell wouldn't take the word of the ACA website that I had insurance.
I'd want it verified by the insurer...wouldn't you ?????

I'd make sure the insurer sent me a bill, that I paid it and had a receipt...that if they had online access, I'd join that.....

Nope, if the ACA website said I was AOK....I would NOT take THEIR word for it

How true it is.

The big problem is that many insurance companies are getting scrambled and wrong info on the patients.

So even if somebody tells the doctor to call the company, it still might be a bum steer.

All roads lead back to the government on this one.

Wow, if these people really did sign up, they'd be reimbursed, and hospitals can't "turn people away":

Hospital staff in Northern Virginia are turning away sick people on a frigid Thursday morning because they can't determine whether their Obamacare insurance plans are in effect.

Yep, they might get a huge bill, but they can do what any of us with insurance claims do -- submit it to their insurance company.

Of course that's entirely possible.

But the public perception is the problem.

Not to mention the total confusion and total inconveniences, especially for people who never had insurance before.

Those with pre existing conditions will have the biggest surprises.

The ensuing lawsuits will clog the courts.

My understanding, is that only public or 'general' hospitals HAVE to treat people. There are many hospitals that can turn away anyone who doesn't have insurance, or can't pay up front. Happens all the time.

ETA: Here is an article explaining. Privately owned, (for profit) hospitals can turn you away. Only in a true emergency, does EMTALA count. Certain emergency conditions fall under this act.

SO...the person that might be having a heart attack; yes. They would have to TREAT them, but they can bill them whatever they want, and the person can choose to leave against medical advice. The kid with an ear ache? Bye-bye

The thing is that so much is in limbo. The hospitals don't know whom to bill - client, company, ?. There are lost of times when they treat someone and just write it off, but with these people, they know someone, somewhere will pay, but who?

Let' just all pay the government $5000.00 a year and forget healthcare, after all it's a tax not a benefit, and it would help this mentally challenged Kenyan out.

Hah, so you're saying you can't just walk into a hospital and say "I have obamacare" and get treatment? Go figure...especially since there is no insurance company called "obamacare". Come on people, how can it be that confusing to you? Republicans killed the public option- the only government provided insurance is medicare and medicaid.

When you sign up for insurance through one of the exchanges you will receive documents from a bonafide insurance company like anthem or blue cross...which is, get this, what you would get if you signed up for insurance last year or the year before with....an insurance company, or through your employer!

Maybe it should not come as a surprise that people who never had insurance before don't know how insurance works. This doesn't prove what a failure the ACA is, it simply proves that people are getting insured for the first time ever...which is the intent of the ACA.

You missed a few facts.

Democrats had control of the Congressional Committees in 2009.

They killed the public option.

And you missed the news about all the information being transmitted to the insurance companies is scrambled and is riddled with errors.

An insurance company can't send you a card if they don't know who you are.

Edit to add;

Caucus politics present another dilemma: The public option died due to the opposition of Nelson, Landrieu, Lincoln, Lieberman and a handful of other conservative -- and vulnerable -- Democrats. Reid cut a deal with them, and they signed onto the final product. For many, that was a big political risk. The price was letting them say they killed the public option. Bringing it back to the bill will mean they voted for a bill that ended up including something they'd promised their constituents they'd killed. Cross them on this and you've lost their trust -- and thus their votes -- in the future.

I want you all to know today America's Health care system is on bended knee. This nation stands with the good, hard working people of America as we mourn the loss of those hundereds of thousands who have lost their healthcare.
I can hear you, and the rest of the country can hear you, and the people who knocked down our healthcare system will hear from all of us soon!!!

I would suggest, that people caught in this nightmare, use this as their billing address, when seeking medical help.

The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20500

After all...didn't he say, the buck stops here. Let our All Powerful and Knowing Wizard behind the curtain sort it out.

I see cracks in the yellow brick road...
