I used to work on the Marcellus Shale pipeline as a welder helper in northern PA. I have never seen this happen and I used to rent a house sitting not to far away from a live well, with the property having the owners of the rented house seeing lucrative royalties as the pipeline went under their lawn. I've never seen it, can't say if it is true or not but I was there and didn't witness this and we actually tried to do this because of that documentary gasland.

That happens too.

It would not be surprise me if big oil actually pays people to go onto forum likes these for disInfo purposes.

I thought Gasland would have made the rounds to nearly everyone by now...

Just shows how hard the disinfo campaign from Big Oil (And Gas) are working to keep this under wraps.

IIRC in Gasland, they actually show a farmer light water from his well.. not from within the sink.
They also had documents and a court order to force the Gas Company at the time to provide them with tanked fresh water they'd need to deliver on a monthly basis.

How any one can just outright call hoax on this is astounding.

This could very well be true, or be a hoax. As others have pointed out the video author could have used lighter fluid in the drain or some other method to create the flame. However, I would like to point out it is possible that the flame is due to dissolved methane escaping from the tap water.

This excerpt is taken directly from the USGS website:

Methane gas can be transported by ground water in dissolved or pure gaseous states. Methane in ground water is not explosive; but when water containing dissolved methane comes into contact with air, the methane quickly escapes from the ground water into the atmosphere.

Heres a quick story from the pipeline. While I was up there a gas company had a lease and permits to drill a well pad on this ladies property and permits for adjacent properties to run a right of way. The lady accepted a lucrative sum in the millions and was asked to leave her property for a period of time for certain safety and liability reasons. After they started fracking and had not finished conducting environment and other MULTI MILLION DOLLAR safe guards she pulled the cats were getting sick etc etc etc, needless to say there was an investigation and this person tried to sue the gas company and went running her mouth all over the news, but it turned out to be nothing and this was verified by 3 or 4 seperate party sources as environment is a big deal. See what happens if you get caught taking a leak in a non designated port o john, bet you couldnt guess it, but yeah you get fired.

Comments about paid shills for the gas companies on ATS, thats the first I've ever heard that one for sure!

This is absolutely real. I worked in the gas industry for 15 years in several capacities across the country. I would recommend Gasland if you have never seen it. I can personally attest that this does happen and is happening. Families are forced into gag orders to have their medical bills paid and water trucked in. I would be happy to answer any questions anyone has about this practice I have drilled some of the deepest gas wells in Wyo, tied 1000+ wells into the mainlines, placed frack charges and pumped frack fluid

I've never seen this on the marcellus shale, but I also understand that their is different fracking methods, and solutions. What makes them different?

Farcking fluids are proprietary most of the time the company heads are the only ones that know what is in the fluids. This occurs when fracking occurs too close to a water well or the frack expanded further than projected. Methane (or other natural gas) leaks into the water well, water wells can also naturally produce it we have a cattle well that the water comes up with methane no pump needed.

Drilling for methane dried up when Dems took office, 90% of the work in Wyo is gone now. There is nothing wrong with it as long as proper protocols are followed....unfortunately money rules safety often takes a backseat. The biggest reason these things occur is negligence of the drilling or fracking crews and land owners not asserting their rights. I mean if someone offered you a couple million in royalties for letting them place x number of wells you better know where they are punching those holes and where your water is.

I have no way to know for sure, however, it sounds like you have air in your line. It could be a broken pipe or a faulty release valve, but again I have no way to know for sure.

democrats.energycommerce.house.gov...

The .PDF (2009) did explain how 650 different chemicals were / are used during Fracking. Companies - as .PDF explained, could not name such chemicals and were given time to find what such was / is. They try to cover many names of Chemicals up by saying they are New Patents, yet many such Chemicals are said - in reports- to Cause Cancer.

How can this be the Best way to deliver Gas or so called Water ????? Read the .PDF for youself../.

I can explain this for you. Methane is separated from water through the movement. As the methane builds up in the drain the water forced it up and combustion occurs at 15%+. If you could figure a way to fill a bottle and cap it quick with a balloon you could see this first hand, sometimes the water is almost carbonated with it.....

Not saying that fracking has not caused problems but the film,Gasland, is a proven fraud. It is a fact, proven in court, that the fire water scene was a special effect created for the film. Also, the "experts" used to "prove" the film's claims were proven to be not even remotely expert in any field related to the subject.

Be careful about what is out there. Lots of agendas. Some who are addicted to their own self righteousness who take a "ends justify the means" mentality. Some are simply socialists who want to portray energy companies as evil capitalist devils. The irony is that the big companies are the opposite of free market capitalists. They epitomize what inevitably happens when there is a large centralized government, namely cronyism. Big government advocates need to look into the mirror if they take issued with large corporations. Big gov and big biz are mutually dependent. Always have been and always will be.

Well you seem to hate oil companies see im less likely to believe someone when they show an obvious bias. See the sad part is as a society we need energy so unless you want to go back living in huts with no electricity were obviously going to have to figure out a way to continue to use fossil fuels. Saying how big bad and evil the iol companies are is well stupid as you sit inside your house with electricity typing on your computer. All this became possible because of those evil oil companies now just so you know those evil oil companies are one of the biggest sponsors of the global warming community. They fund reforestation and lets not forget they donate heavily to animal conservation. There the ones saying we need to have carbon taxes and the environment and of course there on your side and yet you attack them. You really have no idea how much they spend on environmental issues do you? Really doesnt make sense to me.

I usually sit on my boat where I get my electricity from solar panels and store that in a battery bank.. I suppose I could use bio-diesel to totally be free of the big oils grip but that just isn't always practical. I prefer to let the wind push me when I want to move.

The fact is oil companies have rigged capitalism. My 91 Diesel VW Jetta got the same gas mileage 40mpg+ as most of the so called fuel efficient cars do today. Why is that? Certainly technology today is better.

Big Oil buys off patents that threaten their bottom line. They destroy habitats, poison our waters and get away with because they have become so powerful that they are above the law. We are force fed oil and its products at an inflated rate. We are slaves to big oil.

I know plenty of people who put up PV panels. The utility companies make it financially unreasonable to attempt a grid tie in for a household or business so they cannot sell back their excess power for a profit. In some areas they are lobbying to make PV panels illegal on one's roof because they are "unsightly."

Yes big oil is very evil. When profits and the greed to make more profits are more important than anything else to a company then I have to say they are evil.

Who said it never happens? I am merely expressing an informed opinion and I am too informed to ignore the faulty reasoning of certain opinions and propaganda. Someone with their "head in the sand" would only follow one side of an argument.

I suppose anyone who is not ignorant might have to acknowledge that fossil fuels have played a larger role in creating equality and empowering more common people than any other resource in the 6000 years of human history. Other than making your present comfort possible, they also provide very good paying jobs to many many people, as well as provide the commerce that makes modern society possible, not too mention power the world in the most efficient way possible (currently anyway).

And those who might have some reading comprehension skills might have understood that my earlier post is a rejection of having an "elite few" rule. In fact, anyone who maintains an objective stance on acquiring and processing as much information as possible from a variety of sources would understand that big government equals big corporations, or at least the rule of an "elite few" in some shape or form (see politburo and appointed bureaucrats in a communist system). To believe otherwise is to be simply ignorant or to have, as you say, one's "head in the sand."

Should companies be held accountable for any negligence or malfeasance on their part? Absolutely. Anyone who believes empowering government is a way to achieve this is woefully naïve.
And anyone who supports chicanery and fakery to promote an agenda (ie Gasland) is not only ethically suspect, but intellectually void in that exposure of the phony bologna propaganda hurts their cause, at least among those not puritanically devoted to a superstition which is largely based on selfish feelings of self righteousness and narcissism.
