So why didn't the Rabbi mention Jesus as Messiah by name in his note? Why the hebrew phrase? After all, Jews are familiar with Jesus.

And rejected him.

They expected someone more like King David and less like Jesus. What the rabbi revealed would mean that the Jews have been in error ever since then. That's not exactly something small.

If they took the Rabbi that seriously, they would have accepted what he wrote about Jesus being the Messiah. (If thats what he actually wrote) Because finding out they were wrong now is better than finding out they are wrong when Jesus returns.
