It seems like many of those who are considered intellectual giants have been known to believe in more than just hard cold facts. A modern day example is a book called, "The Monk and the Philospher", which examines a father and son relationship pitting two extremely well educated people and the differences on how they now see the world. The catch is obvious, one of them left a very promising career of working with top level minds in molecular biology to devote his entire life to Buddhism.
