If Paul Hellyer had not been the Canadian equivalent of the Secretary of Defense, a political appointee, he would not make the news at all. He is not knowledgeable about UFOs in any sense of the term. But he attended a conference in Hawaii a few years ago where Steven Greer made an appearance, and since then Greer and others have stepped all over themselves calling him the "Right Honourable Paul Hellyer" as if he had some sort of special secrets to share. Like many of us, he's interested in the subject, but that's all. He has nothing special to share other than a fifty-year-old title he no longer holds.

I'm surprised the old fallacy of "he's just trying to sell books" hasn't yet been trotted out, sure he has one but I think its only sold a few thousand copies, anyways, if this fallacy were true then we couldn't believe anything in any book that was sold for profit, we couldn't believe any information in any medium that was produced for profit - obviously idiotic and not true.

As always with anything, don't listen to me or anyone else, especially anonymous voices, watch/read sources yourself, do your own research and use your own discernment, for the words in my signature are undoubtedly true.

Personally, I believe what I can learn and confirm for myself.

I don't base my beliefs on what someone else says unless I can somehow confirm that information. "He should be believed because he was once the defence minister" is not necessarily a confirmation.

I don't automatically believe Paul Hellyer's opinion on alien visitation more than the next guy simply because Hellyer was once the Canadian Defence Minister. His former position does not make everything he says "fact" because the information he is basing his opinions on did NOT come from secret information that he learned while he was defence minister. His his former government position may have some relevance, is not vitally relevant in the matter -- i.e., his former position does not make everything he now says beyond refute.

His interest in alien visitation did not really take off until he was out of office for a while, and came only after investigating the issue personally (not as a government official) years after leaving office. Gratned -- It may be true that some of his beliefs come from a conversation he had with a retired US Air Force General (a general who allegedly confirmed some of Philip Corso's writings on alien visitation), but again, that information came to him as a private citizen, and was not the sort of "secret classified official information" that only someone as high up as the Canadian Defence Minister could know.

The real question you should be asking is "What makes Paul Hellyer credible at all?" Does his title automatically give him credibility? And what has he done, specifically, that entitles him to some sort of "expert" status? People seem to feel that because he was "Defence Minister" that he must know some secrets related to "defence," but the fact is, he has never said as much nor claimed such. He's never claimed to know secret smoking guns. He's never claimed to know for a fact that aliens "are here." He came to the attention of folks in his eighties after attending a UFO conference whereupon people like Greer began to relentlessly exploit him.

If you are going to accept Hellyer as some sort of expert (based on the flimsiest of evidence), then why don't you tout Jimmy Carter's sighting of a UFO as absolute proof? Why do you accept the Right Honourable Minister of Defence of Canada as an expert witness, but dismiss the President of the United States Jimmy Carter? Carter at least saw something (probably the planet Venus.) Hellyer has never seen anything.

This is a perfect example of an 8illogical "appeal to authority" that in this case doesn't exist at all. There are some credible witnesses to UFOs out there, but Hellyer isn't one of them.

It seems to me, in my own opinion, that he is regurgitating a lot of second hand information. I am sure he has every reason to believe what he is saying is the truth. He seems sincere in his beliefs, however as pointed out his status has given him a lot more attention than someone without public status who is well versed in Ufology.

I don't think he is a puppet. I just think he is a man who has a personal belief in alien visitation -- and he is certainly welcome to have that belief. His beliefs seem to be as sincere as any other alien visitation believer.

However, just because he has a personal belief doesn't mean I should also automatically believe, just because he was once the Canadian Defence Minister. Personally, I'm not an "anti" believer in alien visitation; i.e., I don't dismiss the possibility. However, I don't personally think there is enough good evidence for me to share in Hellyer's beliefs.

Now, if he can produce verifiable evidence that he learned from his time at the Defence Ministry (such as a verifiable document that he found while serving that proves alien visitation [maybe verified by another person who was "in the know" at the time]), then that may change things. However, he has already said he learned of no such secret information while he was in office.

Yes it would definitely help his cause if he could actually say "I saw crafts being manufactured and even had coffee with 'ET' during my time as defense minister". Or something along those lines. Maybe they don't drink coffee but like to play ping pong or watch movies. Charlie Hall, who he cited as some of his inspiration says they like casinos and fashion.

Where Charles Hall story falls down mainly is that he has claimed the Tall white Aliens lived in Area53 right which is near the range of the Nellis Airforce base. He claims many USAF personnel had direct or indirect experiences with Tall whites. and yet we have seen no ex-USAF personnel ever come forward to collaborate his story.

I thought when he started talking about a mother ship damaged by a meteor he was crossing over into realms of his imagination. He did make a lot of versions of the same book that changed from fiction to non fiction.

Let those who say they are "good" do good instead of speaking thru 3rd and 4th persons. Paul Hellyer appears to be a 4th person in elaborated channeling. He does his job quite well! But let me ask, Why not the ET appear on TV instead or on their own made website? Why don't they answer questions when asked thru channelers, instead only lecturing?
Because they can't? Because they are not permitted? By whom? How could they possibly be acknowledged or evaluated positively if they do nothing, say directly nothing, and nobody has seen them? Why am I supposed to believe that what channelers say is the truth? I know there are ET because of many other evidence and logic, as well as historic record. I expect Pleiadians and other "benevolent" ET to prove their benevolence in shortest possible terms. The limbo continued for too long. In internet era when every news becomes potentially worldwide news, as Hellyer interview spread for 3 days only, the ET do not have the luxury to wait anymore. I will be the first one to switch sides if this limbo continues even one month longer. Because to hide means to have something to hide. Let they come to the light if they are of the light so we can see it. Otherwise, other questions of other character pop up. Once the shadow of doubt crosses it is very difficult to get out of it. I want clear and full explanation. Not only from those who pretend to channel Pleiadians. But also of other benevolent ET chanellers. They sideline the main questions, substitute them with vague wordings of love and light and energy of hi D that no one fully understands. I will not repeat myself any further. The Pleiadians, not only those to Billy Meier, the Andromedans, and all the rest benevolent ones owe explanations to humans for quite many things. Including why did they allow the Grey to do the evil things that insiders on internet allegedly say they did. The sooner they start talking to us the better. They say we (humans) used nukes, but they don't say a word about the destroyed Atlantis. About who made the Flood. About why it was permitted by galactic laws the apparent genetic fall called later original sin. Perhaps we have to be rewarded by those galactics for quite many things done in history. Collier's Andromedans claim the Pleiadians destroyed Atlantis, "ask the Pleiadians" he said in one of his videos. Whom to believe if they contradict on such big issues? And how to believe in a benevolence that does not manifest as such?

I admire the research of Paul Hellyer. Still the questions remain and will continue to remain even if we are shown UFOs every evening on CNN. We don't know who is inside and what his full agenda is.
