I don't think the Martians ever manufactured stuff like carpet, I think they built everything from natural things...mostly stone! Like our ancient ancestors. I think they had plent or variety of rocks to work with

From your photo Lizard!

Does seem to be lifted off the ground (shadow underneath) in an interesting way. We're getting an entire zoological exhibit here in the last couple of hours (and I was only going to come by for a few minutes this time).

Where did you find that octagon?

Sorry. I'm lazy at posting sources. It's on the middle right in this image. There's another one nearby where I actually got the image, though. It's a little clam.

I would love to see this one closer if you get time. The middleish toward the top.

mars.jpl.nasa.gov...

The kind of wandering trails in this photo, I don't see how they could have been caused by ancient water and wind should have covered all the tracks we see anyway some really look like Marsmal tracks!

Here's a new thread up on Rocknest finds. Several small white objects are there scattered about, and a very nice hollowed-out rock with the middle cut out, and more. Not very large right now, under a page, and stored here to keep the purpose of this thread intact:

I came across a white circle like that not sure it is the same one. I wonder what size things are we look at, we could be seeing things quite wrong if we are envisioning the wrong size.

Funbox makes pictures that are easier to see they blurred the white bunnies under the rocks so bad i can't see...my eyes are killing me all the squinting today!

It really does, but with your enlargement I am seeing more rocklike than what I was. Interesting shiny spot on tail though.

And I notice that other rocks in the area are also "uplifted" where the sand has been blown away from under them. If nothing else, this is another good "lookylike", and our reptile-rock collection has another member (or is it a flash-frozen eel?).

It seems very zoomed in on, so if it's right next to the Rover it's quite small. Interesting though, with the "tail".

The string looking part seems to go on top of it a little. I don't know how to get coordinates off of the panorama, but it is easy to see. I had to take a screenshot and then cut it because I don't know how else to take a picture from it.
