I would only If I could take a backpack of gear with me.
Oh the fun I would have leaving digital watches in certain places, write messages on cave walls like "Help me ATS I have been zapped by space women into the past".
Yeah I would be dead but I would be loling like mad in the afterlife

I'd have to inspect your back pack to ensure there's nothing in it that would alter the space time continuim

Yeah, I would go. As long as I did not have to go to the Mediterranean or Europe where there was lots of fighting. I'd stay here with the neanderthals and Yeti..drinking beer...

Not a chance.

I'd do it if I Could bring an SUV loaded with goodies.

But..that would fundamentally ruin the future, unless you believe in alternate time lines lol

I'd much rather go back to the history we aren't told about, or don't' know exists then hell yes.. Like..hundreds of thousands of years, maybe millions.

For me, altering the time line would be the most fun. If it was a one way trip then I wouldn't really have to worry about the future that I came from as it probably wouldn't exist for me anymore.
Without taking back supplies though, I couldn't see myself lasting too long in that era.

My best chance would be to pass myself off as engineer or artist and then would end up influencing the time line anyway. The contents of my brain I think, are enough to significantly alter the course and events of the future. Providing I didn't get killed or die within the first few months of course.

I think you're going back more than you mean.

en.wikipedia.org...

Wasn't much in the world then.

I like the concept though. It would make for a good show. Historian goes back to see stuff and finds that history was either wrong or misdiagnosed and gets into interesting happenstances. Like a medieval Quantum Leap. I'd watch it.

According to people I think are either lying to us, or ignorant of civilizations long gone.

You can only dig so deep before everything is just dirt right? lol

Hell no.

Why?

I like anesthesia and pain killers during surgery and not some guy with a wooden knife sprinkling me with sage and chants.

I think I'd go back. I'd want some time to prepare first though. So I'd try and learn as much as I could about things like metal working. I'd try and find a hospitable area near the mediteranian where I could build a house and grow a garden. I'd work on creating blackpowder, and metal. I think I'd be more afraid of the people though than the animals. But the advantage is that you could most likely find some people to work as your servants.

Would you take the time portal or not? and why???

Sure.
Because I'm an explorer.

I would fill my belly with seeds.

Then when I arrive I take a dump,
spread out the seeds and begin propagation.

If even, only, one strain succeeds I will be ancient world wealthy.
Having plants that no one else does.

    Mango Seeds
    Pumpkin Seeds
    Spinach Seeds
    Cantaloupe Seeds
    Potato Seeds
    Broccoli Seeds
    Sunflower Seeds
    Apple Seeds
    Chestnuts
    Cannabis Seeds
    Aloe Vera Seeds
    Great Burdock Seeds
    Chamomile Seeds
    Pot Marigolds Seeds
    Echinacae Seeds
    Tea Tree Seeds
    Sage Seeds
    Peppermint Seeds
    Garlic Seeds
    Onion Seeds
    Plantain Seeds
    Oak Acorns
    Rock Elm Seeds
    Neem Tree Seeds
    Moringa Oleifera Tree Seeds
    Pine Cones Seeds
    Cedar Tree Seeds
    theobroma cacao seeds
    coffee seeds
    cotton seeds

I'm rather gifted at landscaping,
gardening, and plant empathy.

After that I would take a local and teach them to tend and keep the garden,
and that they can eat from any of the plants the wish, except for the cacao.
The chocolate beans I would use for trade. Introducing the idea of currency
into the ancient world.

You know what,
now that I think about it,
this may already have happened.

And on second thought no, I would not go back.
Because people are back stabbing #ing #ers
and I wouldn't be able to establish trade for long
enough to teach future generations how to read and write,
before being betrayed.

Unless I became a vengeful murderous #er willing to
slay any and all who stood in my way.
Something I am certain I would not enjoy.
As future generations would not see or recognize the times
I was in, and what I _had_ to do to bring literacy to the world,
and who wants to be remembered as a vengeful murderous #er anyway.

I could just see myself having to stop some #ing #er from sacrificing
their own child atop some abandoned trading post I used to use.

"Abraham, Abraham: Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me."

At least in this day and age,
I can teach someone how to read,
write, and do math, without having
to shed blood, or be accused of
practicing sorcery.

for sure. You'd all probably die of cholera or typhoid or even ritual sacrifice long before you'd accomplish anything
