Cool.

Although at nearly a million miles away, I'm guessing we won't get any good pics.

I would say that 3+ lunar distances is a very long way from being interesting.

And not to be surprised if you don't garner many replies.

And to my homeland of Puerto Rico, the Latin Detroit, I say, "Farewell."

No seriously though, is it an asteroid or is it that remnant of ISON everyone is talking about?

For one...102 meters does not equal 400 feet, it equals 335.
Asteroids have passed and will continue to pass the planet .

My concern is that an Asteroid is flying by Earth and it wasn't even discovered until Dec. 23rd. If it were going to hit, we'd have no time to react.

It is over a million miles, based on LD, away so their really isn't anything to worry about with this.

It's the one that comes to stay that I'm not looking forward to seeing.

I have an edit to make. In the title I say that the Asteroid will pass tonight which is incorrect. It will pass on Jan. 3. It won't hit us; just some Doom Porn.

Thanks dude, I'm astounded that we can find something 100m wide at that distance, (I'm guessing its currently well over the million mile mark) It would be awesome if it flew by a lot closer than predicted though.

Thanks anway

That is very far away. It needs to be less than 0.1 LDs to have a chance of hitting Earth.

At sometime durring the 2000's a large asteroid was spotted last minute that went between the Earth and Moon, less than 1 LD. The initial observations gave it a high probability of hitting Earth, so high that President Bush was notified. It missed but the threat is very real.

The double post is rare, but a triple post? I think the asteroid may just hit haha.

And were we told about it on the news or in the papers before it passed by? If it was that close and they thought there was a possibility of impact, then I guess they would not want to cause a panic (over nothing)?

it happens all the time so no point worrying about it cause even if the armagedon one comes we,r never getting told about it so just get on with life,if it comes then who cares,ur life ends anyway so to me going out in a bang would be a little more fun.

This is all part of the NWO Asteroid Threat scenario.

Slowly but certainly, eventually and inevitably, humankind is going to be faced with a very short notice, asteroid threat with the explosive capacity of a hiroshima bomb. And then they will start coming faster , close calls and direct hits, until the big one comes into view for the very first time. We are currently in ramping up stages of the Asteroids apocalypse. Science fiction is about to become science fact.

Apparently, we have close encounters often. My search for Asteroids/ Comets that come between Earth and the Moon came up with several events. This one passed in 2011"

I couldn't find the one you were talking about, however.

There was also the comet Elenin scare of 2011.

Well I gave you a star...

It is so interesting how these NEOs are now being released for public to enjoy and fret over. So without looking at your link, do you mean it is somehow going to be used for some covert political agenda? I think that they are becoming more than they ever anticipated.

Aren't we supposed to be passing through some kind of space cloud right now and have an increase in Comets and Asteroids? I read that somewhere.
