Yea, it's about 10 dollars a pack of smokes...but you also have to realize that our minimum wage is half of what yours is. If I remember correctly Australia is at 15/hr ....we are still at 7.50/hr.

Detained for smoking....didn't even cuff the guy and he still was a prick.

I had a negative run in with the police recently. A friend of mine is a bartender and DJ at local bar, after DJing all night I helped him break down after hours at the bar. At some point the bar's alarm was accidentally set off, I was outside at the time and decided to stick around and tell the cops what happened, bad idea. It took them about 25 minutes to show up and immediately they decide I am a burglary suspect and cuff me. They find my friend who works at the bar inside passed and cuff him too(he was DJing, hence a lot a free drinks and why I stayed behind to help him break down). He has the code to deactivate the alarm, but they will not let him deactivate it. They call the owner of the bar's daughter to come and deactivate it instead. It took her over an hour to get there meanwhile we had to sit there in cuffs.

I tried to reason with the cops, I said " If were trying to rob the place do you think I would stick around for 20+ minutes for you guys to show up?" No luck. After the owner's daughter shows up they walk through and make sure nothing is missing(she does not run the business and wouldn't have known if anything was out of the ordinary). When all that was done the police try to coerce her into pressing charges against us. She refused to press charges against an employee and patron.

At this point I'm tired of being nice and started telling the cops how bad of a job they are doing while still cuffed. They told me if they see me again they will arrest me. So around 630am the next day, guess who they arrested?

I spent the rest of the day in jail on drunk and disorderly charges, I was refused a drug and alcohol test when I requested one while in custody. I got bailed out the next morning and now have to see a judge next week where I will plea not guilty and request a trial by jury. No lawyer needed for that!

It gets better, two days later I catch some thieves stealing fuel tanks out of a boat on a dock I use. I was able to get one tank back and the tag# and vehicle description. I call the police and one cop shows up and doesn't even run the tag, because "its probably a stolen tag" and doesn't seem to care. I feel like they do not care about catching thieves and criminals but will try to coerce someone into pressing charges over nothing when they already have someone in cuffs, and then make up a reason to arrest someone after the fact.

I know how that is I have called the police time and time again when we got broke into here. We even saw the people leaving our home one day with stuff and police did nothing. It was some teen boys in the area and the police didn't do a thing not even with 5 people that saw them leaving with our DVD players and other things.

However my husband got pulled over about a month ago and got a ticket for driving with no license it had ran out 5 days earlier, on his birthday. However when he went to a lawyer about the ticket, he found out the cop wrote down that he had toxic chemicals leaking out of the back of the van that is why he got pulled over???? Hubby does roofs and only carries nails in the back of the van and his gear. This is what ticks me off police will make up any type of BS to give out a ticket.

The funny thing about our DVD player, was one of the kids dads needed cash and brought my DVD player here for me to buy for $20. When I saw my SS # on the back of it I closed the door locked it and kept my DVD player then called the police and had him escorted off my property. I got it back however it didn't work by the time I got it back.

Yeah, but not for the reasons that the You-tuber stated, its actually stupid because the poster apparently isn't smart enough to realize that the cop didn't write the 'no smoking' law, she is simply doing her job. Standing there giving the cop grief because she is enforcing a law, which she didn't write, because you got caught breaking it, is in fact STUPID...

If you have a problem with the law, then take it up with law makers, not the enforcers.
BTW... That appears to be a campus police officer, and yeah, they have nothing better to do then write tickets for breaking silly laws, ordinances, & school policies. They are essentially little more then glorified meter maids who write fines all day.

As the population gets dumber and dumber the police will be required to interfere in more and more areas of life which used to be governed by common sense. When people have less and less common sense the police are required to step in to enforce the laws enacted by people elected by people with no common sense.

In that way we sink ever lower into a situation of being controlled like the toddlers that we are, now.

My solution to this is to educate yourself and then form non-governmental organizations to start to put pressure on legislators to create loop holes in loopy legislation and slowly to claw things back to the way they were when grampa and grama ran the house and lookout! You better not eff with them. Hitler tried to eff with them and look what happened to him.

I did not read all of the comments but seems people missed the most important statement in the video. Nothing new about cops profiling and harassing.

But the cop states: "We are here to protect the property of UTA". That is the fact. Police are hired to protect property for those that are fortunate enough to "own" it.

Their job ends there.

For all the folks saying 'Wait for this' 'Wait for that'...kinda too late.

People already get visits from CPS for exposing children to second hand smoke.

Now that 3rd/4th hand smoke are becoming things of a believable (tangible???) nature...hah I think I might die laughing if I was arrested or detained for "Exposing the public to tobacco residuals." I don't think I could ever keep a straight face. I don't doubt that a person may be exposed to some residue via 3rd hand. I just doubt it is a significant amount in comparison to living in 'modern times'.

That man is not very smart. He was just being questioned by law officials. I have been homeless for a year and a half almost and before before that I was a walker and a road biker for all of my life, never had a car in all of my life. I have been stopped by the police 20 times in the past 5 years to be questioned. I show respect and get respect. They do not force respect, they are just people foremost and foremost. It is the toughest job and people treat them like Nazis. If you are mad at your government, don't take it out on the police unless you've met the people they have to deal with. If you have met the people they deal with, you are either one of them or a victim. It is a trained response to uncooperative individuals through both experience and training. This event could have been shortened to a 1 and a half minute had he been cooperative and he could have been on his way. I have never had a cop arrest me or write me up in all of my stops, even if I reeked of alcohol. What this man did was show no respect. He got none in return.

Right, it may seem that way if you look at the prices over here, and you're used to $180,000 per year.

Over here, the "minimum wage" (which is the pay rate many, many people have no choice but to take, and many more people earn only slightly more than) is something like $7.25 an hour. Many employers, particularly large chains of the type that tend to have thousands or millions of minimum wage workers, have also developed a habit of giving out "full time" positions very sparingly-- instead using several "part time" workers, to equal the average hours of a single full-time worker-- this, so they do not have to risk paying much "over time" pay, or benefits such as health insurance, etc....

Anyway, even if someone is lucky enough to have a full time job, at the federal minimum, this comes out to about $290 per week BEFORE taxes!!! Which comes out to around only $15,000 per year, and again, that is BEFORE taxes are taken out.

And many, many people are forced to try to live on this much, or less, per year.

Over here, $40,000 - $50,000 per year would be considered a really decent job. You pretty much need to A- be Skilled labor B- have a college degree, or C- Be a government employee, to get even that much money.

$180,000 per year is basically the lower end of upper-class / wealthy.

loitering for real in a public bus sstation do they know how stupid that sounds. if their was no smoking she should have just said sir smoking is not allowed here and left it at that. similar thing happened to me last year my girl paid me no mind and she showed up to a traffic court with out any money for her ticket because her numb skull friends told her a prayer for judgement would get her out of it. needless to say i get a call please bring her the money for the ticket or they are not allowwing her to leave. i show up at court house building and enter the lobby part only where a dumb arse deputy informs me he is giving me a 100 dollar fine because my shirt is not tucked in i handed her her money and informed him no he isn't because i am leaving and i walked outside he wisely chose not to come after me .

Smoking in your car with children in it should be and is illegal in some states. If you want to puff your lungs out by yourself, have fun, but it's child abuse if kids have to breathe it. I speak as someone who grew up inhaling their parents idiocy.

Officer Race, Badge ID 6856 made a valiant effort to maintain public safety and order,put her own life on the line and approached this dude, heroically, on suspicion this dude was smoking a cigarette, outside. Luckily these mental midgets get tax payer cash to protect the rest of society from this dangerous animal.

This is so stupid. Whats this, a practice run ,for her on how to deal with suspects standing around? The cops are so frivolous with things now days. At least, they didn't tazer or shoot him. I guess their practicing profiling what type of profiling? I don't effin know....Smoking. This is getting the smokers acclimated to being handled by assault officers.....

I have run into the same thing on a few occasions too.

I wish I could put it into words better but it's like their common sense has gone out the window. Instead of looking at the facts, they have a preconceived notion of what "must have happened" and go on auto pilot, facts be damned.

We had some poachers shooting across our front yard once. They were gunning for a turkey. They got it. I ran out there pretty PO-ed because my kids were playing in the yard and could have got hurt. They took off and left the turkey. Against my better judgement I called the game warden. He asks who did it. I told him - we lived in the boonies and everyone knows everyone. He drove me to their house and I confirmed it was them. The GW says well they are not doing anything now so he can't do anything about it. Yet he comes confiscates the turkey and proceeds to preach to me about the game laws. Amazing. I told him I did not shoot the turkey, at his request took him to those who did, but it made no difference. The words just poured out of his mouth. I stopped listening and walked away. The dude could not have made less of a difference if he had tried. I hope the guy matured in the position or found different employment.

I have some relatives who are LEO's and this bleeds over into their everyday lives. Discussing anything with them - sports, weather, etc - is a one way conversation.

Maybe it is a hazard of the job, dealing with so many morons. Maybe they just stop listening and perceiving. Instead they project what ever they have constructed in their minds to the rest of the planet. If accurate, IDK if it is, that seems dangerous to be so unaware of your surroundings.

Cops suck! and ongoing as it seems.

These are transit police. They are hired by the Utah Transit Authority and as such are probably enforcing a no smoking rule on the property.

as you can see www.symbolarts.com... the woman and guys are clearly wearing the same patch on their arms. They're hired by the U.T.A to enforce their rules.
