OMG, still no GEE. I think being GEEless might indeed be worse than cabin fever.

So are we still placing bets on where the next 7 or higher might be, seeing as how it's late to the party? I'm betting probably off Kamchatka/the Kurils. No real scientific basis, just a hunch.

I wanted to drop a few things in here that I've found in my research regarding EE and EU connections that I've shared with PM to which he has referred a few times and that no one else seems to have picked up on, and that is Excess Mass Stress Tectonics.

Geodynamic phenomena are attributed to Excess Mass Stress (EMS). The basic idea is that the Earth expands and not due to a heat but to a stress engine. Below the depth of about 100 km in the Earth's interior, electromagnetic and nuclear forces, not heat and gravity, are considered to dominate.
emphasis mine

If, as theory states is true, the electrostatic force is on the order of 10^38 to 10^40 stronger than gravity then all observable phenomena can be traced back to these forces interacting within our earth.

Excess Mass (EM) is the product of transformation of cold plasma (electrons, protons and positive ions) into bulk matter, within the outer core, through electromagnetic confinement, resonance, laser clustering, shockwaves, and controlled nuclear fusions.

EXCESS MASS STRESS TECTONICS (EMST) : AN OUTLINE OF THE HYPOTHESIS

Basically what happens is these atoms are under intense pressure, so much so that their electron shells are shrunk down to lower orbital levels. This allows more electrons per shell, eventually these atoms make their way to regions closer to the surface where the pressures decrease and the electron shells 'relax' to their normal levels, at this time, the extra electrons are released where they find their way into micro-cracks within the crystalline lattice of the rocks above:

Therefore, in the EMST conceptual framework an earthquake and/or a tsunami is a series of traveling and standing waves (solitons), generated by an abrupt disturbance that vertically displaces the rock and/or the water column, respectively. When a large area of the sea floor is gradually elevated, due to electron inflow in micro-cracks, and then suddenly subsides, due to electron overflow from the micro-cracks, an earthquake and a tsunami can be generated.

This "electron overflow from the micro-cracks" is roughly equivalent to underground lightning as it is a discharge of stored electrons once a certain threshold is reached.

This is an actual physical process, with actual forces acting on an indivisible unit, i.e., a quantum, of intact mass of solid rock, which due to the dynamic stress caused by the collapsing overburden rock volume, is forced to behave as a unit of elastic medium for a short period of time. The dynamic stress has a synchronous double effect: compaction, due to normal stress, and rarefaction, due to shear stress. In that context, faults are an inelastic secondary effect and occur when the strength of the rock has been greatly reduced due to the increase of internal pressure, and/or due to the action of dynamic stress that produced an earthquake. Therefore, there are earthquakes without faults, actually most of them, and there are faults without earthquakes.
emphasis mine

Get that, faults are secondary effects to the force of an earthquake, not a causative feature. In other words, the shockwave of the quake travels faster than the rock can break.

Finally a simple observation on relevant maps shows that earthquakes and volcanoes in any tectonic belt, associate with high free-air gravity, geoidal, and heat flow anomalies, i.e., tremendous concentration of “excess mass”, and “excess energy”, in space and time, and do not associate with faults. For example, an earthquake generating fault has never been observed, and the thousands kilometers long transform faults in the Pacific basin are earthquake free.

What's that?

"An earthquake producing fault has never been observed"

HERESY!

Plate tectonics, indeed nearly all of geology is presupposed that earthquakes are caused by plates sliding and sticking against one another or driving down below one another and suddenly releasing.

Well, things may not be quite as settled as many people think in regards to this particular 'ology' and these new ideas call in to question long held dogma, and I know PM loves overturning that as often and vehemently as possible, given the chance.

Don't know about that, did a table a few years back comparing those with large quakes and there was no match at all.
I believe there is a timelag involved.

It appears Iris Web Services (IWS), the newer protocol, is having some major issues. We just have to be patient until they fix it. Unfortunately, GEE and other programs that source directly from IWS are not going to work until they do. At current, I can only source from regional and local networks that I have direct access to with my rig. And those are few. I am just as blind and can't see any of the major worldwide stations, just like you guys.

Japan's NIED has it as a 4.3 on their site. Unless I have my time zone conversions screwed up, it's the 2014-01-09 03:57:34 listing. And presuming I'm remembering the magnitude threshold for internationals correctly, USGS doesn't list 'em under 4.5 unless it causes serious damage or is super-unusual for it's location.

And still no GEE yet. TA must be going up the walls, I sure am.

EDIT: No, scratch that threshold number, I must have it wrong. USGS clearly shows many, under 4.5 in the region for the past 30 days, the smallest being a 4.1 in Russia. Not sure why this one isn't listed. Could just be a matter of time before it's added to the list?

I will see what I can find out about GEE as I am in touch with the author. From what TA says I won't bother him as it is not his area.

I doubt if it is affecting TA. I think he has access to other much better kit. I was going backwards through the posts and just came to TAs comment.

I see we have some better(???) emoticons! Yay! They still are not as good as the old ones we had originally. How is this a saint ?
It has no halo.

Ok, all you awesome earthquake people. I have a question for you. What are your beliefs in earthquake clouds? We had some here in southern missouri a couple days ago. They were very impressive. My husband was amazed at the clouds and I was stunned as well. I know we are also having a solar storm and Ive noticed some of the large quakes over the past decade or so came with solar storms. What are your opinions? I noticed California is more active than usual today also...
