Quake Watch 2014

This is a bone chiling size quake. An 8.0 of the coast of chile.


And the april fools joke of the 9.8 quake off the coast a bit northward this morning was in bad taste if this happened today.

Sky news says USGS has issued a tsunami warning for the whole of that coastline

It's been coming for awhile...number of foreshocks...didn't look good.

Also exactly in the place I dreamed, where I saw a big RED DOT on an earthquake map, roughly a year ago.

Never the less my 'guess' is Chile high 7, lo 8 in April and either preceded or followed quickly by low to mid 7 in Santa Cruz/Vanuatu - looking at around April 21

OK, so a little earlier than anticipated for the Chile one - I had around the 14th in mind. Now I guess I shall have to wait and see about Santa Cruz/Vanatu and keep my mouth shut in future.

So, in order of probability from your QHS Quake Hunch Sense . . . what are the 3 areas you suspect may let loose first and mostest with a 7.0 and/or above?

I happen to be of the opinion that GIVEN ALL your pouring over such massive amounts of data for so long

Trying to pry a bit of that out of your noggin. LOL.

Actually in the past few months I have not had my head buried in as much data as normal because my stress calculator got broken and I have not had time to fix it. I do look at global data but have not been monitoring specific areas for a while. In addition I have had my head in other interests, mainly the Mayo Male Voice Choir of which I am a member and we have a concert coming up in two weeks time, and I have to write an estimating program for someone so I have been a little bit busier than usual. You could say about three points past frenetic which is the normal pace.

Since I am never normally right those areas should be pretty safe around then

Remember also that IEVPC are saying Philippines during 2014, but I have not investigated their reasoning.

Sky news is saying that the entire Pacific coast line is on alert. Six feet high shouldn't cause that much damage, though I guess it depends upon the length and strength of the tsunami as well. If I lived on the coast, I would high tail it to higher ground. I asked my sister to do so as she lives close to the Pacific in LA, but she hasn't responded yet.

Any idea how deep the ocean is in the epicenter?

LA is ok.....but no telling that it might trigger a eq up that way......

That's what I thinking as well. But she says that EQ's are fun.

She hasn't ridden out a big one yet. And I hope and pray she never does. She was a basket case when a tornado almost hit our house growing up.

If the waves are 6ft. out at sea....they will be huge as that wall of water reaches the shallows

Lets pray we see some aftershocks sooner then later......

The National Data Buoy Centre has buoys in event mode all the way up the east coast of North America? Since when does a earthquake in Chili do this???

Also there are no felt reports less than 400 km away coming in from Chili to EMSC

Oh Well, so much for going to bed.
