Australia has been at this type of diabolical censorship for years. Sad to see China going down the same road but let's face it there not the most open minded nation around.

This isn't the first time China also banned Command & Conquer Generals even though the game was mainly promoting China's military.

TBH, I was a bit disgusted by this China Rising DLC. It's typical for these shooters to find and ridicule other countries and the goal to destroy them. When I was young, it were always the Russians. After 9/11, we were killing Arabs. And now with the Chinese booming, we're killing them too. Next will be India and Brazil no doubt.

Ironical Making an Video Game with the Setting in Yugoslavia would be far to Controversial for some but your right this is a never ending cycle.

Alot of gamers see the pattern.

Most, if not all, gamers see that it is simply a game and is just portraying a fictional (yet plausible) War between two superpowers. The initial BF games had the Russians, but now China is on the ascendency they can expect to be pitted against the other big player, namely the US.

In 20 years time, it'll probably be two different nations depicted or not even that, probably international Unions. BF2142 had the EU and the Pan Asian Coalition (China + Russia). It's a War game, so there has to be two opposing sides. The fact that one nation has thrown it's toys out the pram over it just highlights their own insecurities and the fact they fear their own people, which is just sad.

I mostly stick to Conquest and Domination. Occasional I'll play Rush or Air Superiority when the mood strikes. Floodzone isn't all that bad, I do like the vertical mapping, but I prefer larger maps.

Technically it's not even made by a western company. Sure it is distributed by EA, which is a US company, but the game itself was actually developed by DICE, which is a Swiss company.

I think you'll find DICE are "Swedish", not Swiss and yes, they are a "Western" country.

A Western country does not mean North America...

EDIT: hadnt noticed the reply already. Sorry.

Well, just my point. Opposing sides. Learn to hate the others. I really hate these sort of low minded "games". They're a form of war porno. Look at all the war games the American military is investing in, giving advice, even adding corrections. It says enough. It's a form of brain wash to make people think war is actually fun. Disgusting.

You really think video games teach you to "hate others"?

Like Stumason, I've been a gamer since my first C64 in the early 80's and have played pretty much everything under the sun (Mancopter or LCP, anyone?) I don't hate anyone. I don't want any country or race to die. I've never even been in a real fight. Videos on some other types of website that show uncensored war aftermath images depress me and sicken me.

I know these games are exactly that - just GAMES. I've been playing games since I was 8 and I feel pretty normal.

And I really dislike how people spout nonsense about the impact and effects of games when you truly have no idea what they're about.

You got kids? You dont let them play cowboys and Indians?

52 card pick up?

Surely it should be cowboys vs Native Americans by now

But seriously, games make people violent... That's why so many kids were scalping people on the plains or raiding tribal villages. God help us when these modern games kick in. We'll have assassins killing masons, crazy robbers taking over LA, revolutions in China and god forbid... thousands of black ops specialists saving the free world from shadowy dictators.

Personally I'll wait till the nukes drop and I'll hit the post apocalyptic wastelands looking for some muties to kill. It's gonna happen dude, ever played Command and Conquer or Tom Clancy's End War?

Games make reality after all.

Yeah because game developers are in the know on how to dismantle countries with a video game and don't want to sell it in one of the largest countries on the planet. China should be proud that they are being included in games. You don't see America complaining about games involving America getting taken out by terrorists (COD Ghosts) (Splinter Cell 5) (total war) and lots of other Clancy-esque games. So what its a game, I wonder who it is in the Chinese administration that plays games for the government? More then likely that guy just sucked and got rocked by American players and that dude said the hell with it no one plays lol

And that is the difference in our two types of governments. ( or it used to be), In China's totalitarian communist system, those that run it always feel scared and paranoid because they know that how they are governing is inhumane and immoral, and it is the guilt from governing people this way that makes them become afraid of the people they are governing to the point that they don't allow the public to see, hear, or do anything that might give the people an idea that they should fight back and overthrow the perverted form of government they are forcing down the publics throats with force and assaults, and murder.

We are now seeing the same seeds being planted in the USA using political correctness for one. And we see our own Gov. becoming paranoid and afraid of public retaliation ( for being treated badly) just like this example of China happening.

This always happens with human beings because of guilt, guilt causes fear of retaliation, but there are plenty of real freaks running governments that don't feel any remorse or have any compassion for anyone. There exists those types in every single country on the planet, unfortunately for all the people on Earth.

These types are more plentiful in China's communist party, but the USA is rapidly catching up to them, what with all the Marxist, communist, and socialist folks that are elected, and those elected appoint many, many more that are birds of the same feather. and after that we get massive losses of liberty and freedoms.

Another example of fear of retaliation where I live, was when they started to implement a policy in our county court system of "Profit before Justice" and the next day they installed metal detectors in the courthouse. They feared someone might not appreciate being Effed like that and would come and shoot them all dead. Time will tell..

When morally bankrupt people govern countries, they are afraid of being killed for the evil they perpetrate on the masses.. A natural human trait.

China's governing system leaves no room at all for people to see or have anything that might empower them to see their government for what it really is. (A governing body of Garbage creatures) This is merely a façade, because people in China are very smart, and everyone there knows that those people that govern them are nothing but garbage creatures masquerading as human beings, but these garbage creatures have ALL of the guns (Just like what they are now attempting here in the USA)

So..

How many people are incapable from distinguishing life from fiction?

It's a video game. Pure entertainment. None of it is real.

Someone tell China to grow up, maybe if they stopped doing dumb things to their citizens like banning media, they wouldn't be worried about the general public some how being "rallied" by a marketing scheme into rebelling against the government.

The the muff is the world coming to?
