So i frequented the shops this morning to have a browse through the madness, ended up buying some crap that on any other day i would have passed up. This included a star-bucks mug, necklace and slippers - all half price..

Most of it wasnt even for me lol

No boxing day offer on bacon though :/

What did you guys get? And why?

Nothing because I keep away from being sucked into being a drone of commercialism.

I bought a 3 litre bottle of 7.5% cider. It tastes alright with a little blackcurrant in it. Smoov

Boxing day? Must be British. Do they have boxing day in Canada? Geez I can barely make it through one Chhristmas let alone a second. But I don't have servants anyway. I am the servant. Hey wait.... shouldn't I be getting another present today?

Of course there's Boxing Day in Canada. Here's a picture of people lined up in the freezing cold at 3:00am waiting to get 75% off on Electric Dog Polishers....

Today, the day after Christmas, there are lots of big sales in the stores. We usually avoid the stores EXCEPT for the Hickory Farms stand that goes up in the malls this time of year. Day after Christmas, the Hickory Farms is usually 50% off ... within 3-4 days, whatever is left is like 75% off. So sometimes we will go to the Hickory Farms stand and get some snacks ....

Well I do have to get out in a bit. I wouldn't go except I have to go to the grocery store and run a couple of errands. I'm not looking forward to it but it must be done.

Boxing day in Finland has a different name. So this is my second holiday. I sure don't enjoy going out the day after Christmas. I would rather keep the gifts that people got me than to go out and exchange them. Too many people out there. I let people know what gifts I need so I don't get junk that causes a trip to exchange or winds up in the basement.

I haven't gone to do any Boxing Day shopping. I refuse to let go of my guard of intentionally saving for retirement. There are so many deals out there I would love to get, but the truth my friends is that the economy and the future is uncertain and I want to make sure I don't waste money on something that is not a survival need.

So many times I had the buyers itch to get a nice big screen LED tv so I can view everything in HD....BUT, my tv is still okay...so I will wait like a spider in my little burrow until maybe next year...

Yes, we do celebrate Boxing Day (also known as the Second Christmas Day) in Canada.

I got some lovely bottles of wine, which will be excellent for turning them into Glühwein (Mulled Wine) and invite some friends over for a warm and cozy mug or two.

I also was lucky enough to buy some nice clothes, and handbags- late Christmas gifts for friends who are coming over tomorrow night.

Tested positive for Influenza A a week ago ... have barely left my bed since. So, no shopping, no Christmas, no nothing for me this year. I don't mind so much, I really just want to feel better.

SO MUCH FOR THE MANDATORY FLU SHOT.

I'm sorry to hear that. Get well soon, so at least you can enjoy New Year's Eve.

Wishing you good health.

PS: I know how miserable my husband or I always feel when we have the flue, you can't think straight, and simply want to spend all day in bed, sipping hot tea...

Please, please don't let American retailers hear wind of this.

Black Friday is bad enough.

Yes, let's keep Boxing Day a secret.

Americans are already coming over for our beer and bacon. lol

Boxing Day you say?
Why, I've never heard of it. It must be a myth.

O I can party.

But I like to save my money rather than crowd in with the masses just to buy useless tat for a few % off.

Well just got back and it actually wasn't too bad. I think by going a little early I may have avoided some of the rush because the turn lane coming into Walmart was much more congested than when I arrived.

I bought two tops, a short sleeve top and a long sleeve top, only bought because I had to get bread anyway... I was out, they were half price.

Why not eh?
