Is this too good to be true?

I'm kinda reactionary on this, I'll admit I didn't wait around to see if this thread is just a joke.

I'm just hoping it isn't, I'd pay money to watch Piers get one of those balls to his stupid face.

Although clearly in defiance of our motto here at ATS this (a short Family Guy Clip) is what came to my mind when I read the OP. This occurred, most likely, because it amounts to roughly 25% of my exposure to the sport.

As an aside the remainder of my experience is:
  • The John Goodman/Peter O'Toole film King Ralph (where he hits the cricket ball like a baseball)
  • The movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles where a guy uses a cricket bat to attack a mugger.
  • Jeremy, James, and Richard ruining a perfectly good cricket pitch on Top Gear.
However in the spirit of ATS i did a little research and now am quite fond of this game due to the following:

Brett Lee's ability to bowl 100mph & the fact that it's perfectly legal in cricket to bowl at a batsman's body (body in this case hopefully meaning smug face).

Are you Lloyd Christmas's doppelgänger?

Cricket is the second most popular game in the world, after soccer.

The Rules of Cricket
As Explained to a foreign visitor

You have two sides, one out in the field and one in.

Each man that's in the side that's in, goes out, and when he's out, he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out.

When they are all out the side that's out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in out.

Sometimes you get men still in and not out.

When both sides have been in and out including the not-outs, that's the end of the game.

You might want to add how the field is set up and how points are scored.
They are different from baseball.

Ha ha! That was an Austria / Australia joke
So are we talking about the same Piers Morgan who played as James Bond in Goldeneye, one of my favorite N64 games?

It's a tough game to explain isn't it?

You have a bowler delivering slow left chinamen around the wicket to the batsman looking to sweep off his legs down to deep fine leg for a quick single, but the ball gets picked up by backward square leg and thrown to the keeper who whips the bails off and appeals for a run out to the umpire.

When you read this to music, it sounds like this:

Unfortunately no head shots, but he got three good body blows from Lee. He acted pretty bravely, you could see the terror in his eyes after the first hit. He'll be a little sore tomorrow I think...

Hopefully someone recorded it and will have a vid posted soon.

I dunno..he over stepped the crease by a huge margin to get closer and he followed Piers as he moved away from his wicket.

Piers may have guts to stay there for 6 balls, but he clearly has no idea how to face a fast ball...the whole reason why this was set up in the first place!

He has a bat and pads to protect him and he turns his back to the ball! Madness.

The bouncer was priceless.
