A good friend of my brothers, and who I wouldve called a friend if asked, has died in Iraq.

His name was Louis. W Qualls, and he was fatally shot on November 16th while serving in Iraq. He was 20 years old, and I believe the only child of his family.

Im just asking that you say a quick prayer for God/whatever you believe in to comfort his family, my brother, and anyone else affected. If you want to pray for his soul, feel free, I will be doing so.

He was a really good guy, helped where he could, was polite, and never expected much in return for his good deeds. He had no wife, and no children; although, in the past, he told us that he looked forward to having both.

Dont know what else to say really.. Just if you wouldnt mind taking a minute or two for this, I would really appreciate it.

Sad sad thing..

So many people watch the news, read the newpapers and visit ATS never considering that every person killed in this war was a human being with family and friends. With emotions and hopes and dreams and fears.

Twenty is no age to die. Too young - far too young. And I for one fear for the young people and believe that there will be many more like Louis Qualls before those reponsible are brought to account.

To fallen soldiers let us sing
Where no rockets fly nor bullets wing
Our broken brothers let us bring
To the Mansions of the Lord
No more bleeding, no more fight
No prayers pleading through the night
Just divine embrace, eternal light
In the Mansions of the Lord
Where no mothers cry and no children weep
We will stand and guard though the angels sleep
Through the ages safely keep
The Mansions of the Lord

I'm so sorry for your loss, shidge. You are so right when you said how terrible it is when a life just starting out is extinguished. Reading this just brings home our own mortality.
When we ever learn ? Will we ever learn ?
