I'm glad to see some accountability being instituted. Although those other laws seem way over the line on beating this guy up. If this happens a few more times, I wager the thump-your-head practice screeches to a stop again. Need to keep after those city council meetings. Let them know we know who's responsible with election time coming up. Sorry of this posted.

Every single one of these thugs with badges deserves time in prison as well as restitution to the victim.
I'm telling you folks, issue a badge, issue it with a camera too.
Many officers would not be so quick to take out their worldly anger on a random victim if they knew they were under the microscope.
And the cameras would pay for themselves the first time a cop actually stops to think of the consequences.
No beating, no payout!
Saves the city or county tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars.
And even better, the citizens would be more at ease knowing that there is a silent fully neutral witness.
Badge, camera, gun in that order.

They don't need casinos if they have a badge. They can shake down people. My kid brother and I got robbed by a couple White Plains, NY cops in 04 when I was working construction on the east coast. My Christian beliefs told me to let God take care of it.

The whole camera angle should really be pushed: It would save the cities and citizens loads of money and bruises... To many times have we read that multiple charges had to be dropped due to someone unknown actually filming the altercation and going public with the film..Oops!. In other words Pics or it didn't happen.

Along with cameras they need to start mandatory testing for steroids and testosterone abuse. I believe that's the cause of a lot of the aggression.

Wow did I ever misread the title. I thought you meant the K9 dog was ordered to pay the victim $250,000. I was thinking that the dog would probably quit his job and file bankruptcy.

You are absolutely right!

Last year I was walking across the Safeway parking lot and a drunk cop in his truck almost ran me over. Pedestrians have the right of way. Then he gets out of his truck and screams at me across the parking lot and says he should write me a ticket for not paying attention. He was off duty and obviously drunk and I thought, I wish I had a camera. So I say make them wear that badge and camera when they are off duty too if they are going to exercise their authority while off duty.
