So where is the commercial girls in bikinis licking candy canes for the hetero male consumers?

Maybe I'm just biased but it seems that way too often homosexual is synonymous with soft porn. Like there arent any homosexuals out there who are just regular folks. They're all apparently hyper-horny animals who cant control themselves.

Obviously this is not the case. So why so many ads portraying it as so? Is it just because a shirtless male is acceptable on TV and billboards and in mainstream magazines whereas a shirtless female is relegated to the back pages of behind the counter magazines and subscription cable channels?

As a hetero male I roll my eyes and sigh whenever I see the stereotypical beer commercial with young women appearing out of nowhere for some pisswater beer. It's insulting to think this works. To think there is an entire industry making bank off the knuckle-dragging neanderthal stereotype.

Am I in the minority for not enjoying patronizing crap? Is it a popular homosexual trait to enjoy patronizing crap? The government funding a commercial such as this makes me think maybe it is.

To be honest I am not all that offended by this. It is a little odd type of government promo but creative and fun. It make me laugh and smile so it got my attention. If I actually living in the states and saw this promo I would go and enroll in Obamacare.

At this point, all Americans have to sign up for it so better earlier than later.

What kind of support do you reckon homosexuals need from the government tothetenth? Sexual deviance is not a political minority status, it's a sexual preference and one that should be kept in the bedroom where it belongs. What's next, rubber fetish lobbyists, swinger rights? That's the governement, not Adam and Eve or Penthouse, they should paving roads and taking care of veterans, not catering advertisments to sexual preferences.

You do realize that under many of the Obamacare plans key AIDS regimen drugs aren't even covered in the formulary?

So, say you need a cocktail of three drugs (I'm not expert on the maintenance regimen). You might find two of those covered under you formulary but the third is not. So, you have to cover the $10,000 deductible, pay your sky-high premiums for that privilege, and then cover that third drug out of pocket.

It's like a hidden death panel, and it's not just key AIDS drugs that aren't covered. That problem is going to hit a lot of people with all kinds of conditions.

I think there are many hidden aspects that people will not find out about until they are faced with the need to use them, and then it will be a shock and a feeling of betrayal that their so called insurance ends up being something that is unmanageable. Right now we have people with just the idea that they are insured without understand just what does that mean under Obamacare. They are thinking in old terms like $20 copay for doctor visits and $5 copay for meds etc. They will most likely see high $100s if not $1000s instead.

You make me sick. Are we still getting on with this? let people be gay or straight or whatever? Who really cares anymore?

And it´s not like Obama humped a dude in a restroom, is it?

The whole thread makes me sick. Well done.

Wait what?

You're outraged that a company or organization that caters specifically to LGBT citizens, has created a commercial to try and get those people to use the new exchange?

Are you kidding me?

From your source:

The video, which features homosexual men licking candy canes, seems to promote risky sexual behavior and promiscuity

See, this is the problem. Already slugging insults at the community for no apparent reason.

This is getting pathetic.

Sorry. I'm bisexual myself and am just disgusted by them trying to manipulate me into doing something I want nothing to do with through my sexual orientation. This is the left wing specifically pandering to LBGT. Both to try and goad us into enrolling in Obamacare and to opportunistically take a cheap shot against the right.

Heck there's not much in there that any one should be offended by IMO.

It reminds me of a Hanes underwear commercial but with dancing in a Chippendale-type of way

I guess. If you can imagine the government forcing you to buy Hanes underwear and fining you if you refuse and then making a commercial reminding you that you're required by law to buy their underwear before a certain date. The whole thing is just disturbing as hell. The mandate is disturbing enough by itself. Making commercials for it with happy sounding music and imagery is downright Orwellian.

How VERY gay! lol (Not that there's anything wrong with that!)

Funny as hell. I'm surprised.

Things certainly have changed in the U.S. in the past few years, eh?

Unfortunately, if they had all hot-bodied girls in this video in their undies (mmmmmmmm!) instead of men there would probably be much more outrage (by mostly jealous, overweight women, I'm sure). In fact, it would probably get pulled from the air.

I wonder if they used all really fat guys in the commercial what would be the outcome?

I wish people weren't so butt hurt ( pun intended) about sexuality in general.

North American Puritan Ideals are so 20th century.

I always say to each their own.
As long a person is happy, who cares who does what with whom???

Happiness is the main goal IMO

Well, now that we're being forced into subsidizing everyone else ... things you do that affect your health do sort of become everyone else's business.

This is why a lot of us didn't want anything to do with socialized health care in any form, Obamacare or otherwise.

It was already that way before AHA, we just had more choice which socialized health care plan we wanted. A national plan cuts away some of the choices, though.

At any rate, I think using sex to advertise AHA is desperate. I'm surprised they haven't had ads with people playing World of Warcraft or drinking alcohol, since those are probably popular too. Ok, maybe not quite as popular. I guess they just want to spread the idea if you sign up with AHA you're a normal appealing person.

My take on this commercial is that it's over the top sexual and completely tasteless and crass. Also the govt is spending taxpayer dollars to promote Obamacare to that particular segment of people. This admin wasn't kidding when they said they wanted a classless society. Oh yah and it is pretty much on par with the latest Miley Cyrus vid...er leaked footage.

It would be even more crass and tasteless, but the appeal would be gone, but at least there would be more equality

Not the gov that made the vid. It was made by a LGBT health advocacy group. See last page.

Oh come on. All this garbage is coming from the same source. No matter whose name is signed on the line, these people are collectivists. If you don't understand the concept of working together for a common goal, I don't know what to tell you.

If it were men and women, most people wouldn't be making a big deal out of it, but because it is GAY guys it's a big deal.

The fact is, our society is really sexualized, and now that being gay is being more accepted, all of the sexualized things that were created as "straight" couples, some of them will finally be shown as gay couples and people will finally see how sexualized our society is.

Imagine all of the advertisements had gay guys instead sexualized messages of men and women people will finally understand that all of the sexual messages in society straight or gay is not really necessary and is just playing with the animal instinct side of humanity.

This is why Sex sells, and since the majority is "straight" and this sort of thing is seen as "ordinary"- if it were women and men - most women would already be used to this and not complain and most men would probably think it was an 'good' commercial.
