Papua New Guinea declared Red for aviation.
Check out the circle of red magma/lava in the picture, it encircles the mouth of the volcano!

Bardarbunga is dying back abit, likely has to clear a block & light back up. Probably will be a good show when it does.

Been watching for the last 24 hours. What happened??? cams went to day video.

I have had my kids watching this, and telling them this could be history in the making if this thing blows.

Like others have said, Nature is not on our timeline. Keep watching and be amazzed!

Question:

Is the chance of the ice sheet totally collapsing and a major eruption still a possibility or are we past that.

A: Unknown

No one is sure what can happen, not even the scientists watching it too.
From what I gather, there is a chance it could go months like this, then go bang.
Or just fade out over time. It all depends on where the dike travels and if it hits a rhyolitic pocket; or if it causes the caldera(s) to shatter and get flooded with ice /water. It is anyones guess at this point though.

Damn. I am getting 'server not found' for both camera feeds.

It looks great, pity I can't watch it live.

Thanks to all those giving us the screen shots

It is being flakey, could be the channel is collapsing on itself or getting clogged up now and again.

More wait and see.

*SHRUG!*

I am wondering if I am going mad, or some yutz is screwing with the cams .
Because they are dark again.

M.
Askja's helicorder plot, not anything large enough to ko a camera set up on it, as yet.

3d Bulge only shows a 1.5 & a 1.4 about 20 minutes ago.

Looks like there is dark static-ish stuff on Cam 1, so it may not be dead.

Iceland Time:

Current Time: Sep 3, 2014 at 2:50:22 AM

Sunrise Today: 6:16 AM↑ 71° East
Sunset Today: 8:37 PM↑ 289° West

Moonrise Today: 5:23 PM↑ 138° Southeast
Moonset Today: 11:42 PM↑ 223° Southwest

Daylight Hours: 14 hours, 21 minutes (-6m 29s)

Sun up is in three hours. If cam 1 is not dead, just knocked askew we should see by then.

With luck some yutz didn't break the cams.
Or that Bardarbunga didn't either.
Or if it did we'd get some information in 8 hours or so.
Twitter has not yelled to say one way or the other.
No real indications of a big-badda-boom either on the seismos.

Though this showed up, probably delayed web wise.

I'm gonna set my alarm for 3 hours and take a nap I think.

Magnitude 5.5 in Bárðarbunga, depth 6,4km, 5.7 km NE of Bárðarbunga. Seems like quake activity is increasing again, after few quiet hours. That was actually one of the strongest quakes after August 16th. The activity in Askja fissure swarm is dying down. Good visibility in both cams.
