yup, and can just barely make it out on cam1 on the far right, too. That don't look like no steam.

and I believe that's in a new area, too, is it not?

Seems like a new area, to me as well.
(Cam operator is annoying me though.)

I just saw that. It moved all the way across the image, not static. Given the resolution, it looked more like a pixelated light source, like vehicle headlights on a road.

wait...now there's two?

I think a new one just popped up behind it...

look at cam 1 if cam two is panned left... showing two separate vents on cam 1... and that looks like fire, not headlights.

Heres a pic. Is this an automated camera or is there a person moving it? If it is a person they need to stop.

Evidently it needed it's own webpage

www.bardarbungavolcano.com...

Not bad, easy layout.

Well i don't know from which location this seimograph is, but a light harmonic tremor is measured there which means magma on the move, or a flow of meltwater.

There already was one volcanictremor.wordpress.com...

can be spelled two ways bargarbunga or bardarbunga, depends where you are from, for some reason i used the Spanish version bargarbunga

oh good. the IMO has now changed their drumplot display to a three line system:

hraun.vedur.is...

That's going to let bigger quakes disappear faster off the plot and stop miniaturizing everything else- like, for instance- any tremor that occurs.

EDIT: now it's changed to a 4 line.... Someone's obviously messing with it, trying to decide...

hah, yeah you're right. star for you!

funny thing is, that software they are using is capable of doing exactly what I thought was happening- they CAN choose options on number of minutes to display. Why they don't do exactly that and reduce the lines so that tremor is more visible when larger quakes hit, I don't know.

But what they REALLY need, is spectrographs. Or hell, just give me access and I'll post the spectros.

Then there is this site.

yeah that must be where the media ( and the scientists they quote) get the "1000's per day".
yet IMO are only giving out 100-200 average as "real" events of 100% quality per day (reviewed)
I just did a comparison of stieners (from that page) and the official IMO verdur data 30th Aug up to 21:04
stiener has 992 events of which only 291 are above 90% quality, 293 below 50% quality
IMO verdur have 211 for the same period, but all 100% quality
so i reckon you could discard 66% of those stiener events

one thing though, its pretty up to date, last minute stuff,
if you take the rest of the day and only use above 90% quality events, there are another 26 events for the 30th.
IMO verdur is stuck on 21:04 right now, lets see how many they come up with when the next update comes in
and if it matches steiner?

I'll save the page anyway, thanks for the link

if they match reasonably well I could take steiners data and just use above 90% quality and be able to build my own maps when it suits me, rather than wait till verdur gets around to posting the updates ( 3hr delay!!?)
Just have to pop into stiener's page at least once a day.

edit: and .......... stiener list copies and pastes into Excel without any drama, columns included, unlike verdur where you have to decifer the numbers into columns and re format, a real PITA!.
i also see 90.13 is the highest quality on stiener, but is that good enough?

ha I had time to edit.

heres the steinar data for the 30th Aug with the junk taken out (culled), only those with higher than 90% quality, interactive map, 309 events, highest M2.7
goo.gl...

looks more realistic doesn't it?

wow good catch, lava!
the bardarbunga 2 is shaking like crazy right now, must be those Gale Force winds they mentioned on IMO.
the mist is down on both cameras now.

crazy how they don't work on Firefox, I keep forgetting to save the url on Chrome when I go there to have a look. I don't like the layout on Chrome much and it can be slow, but more and more stuff on the Net won't work anywhere else!

So the cameras ARE actually live!, this is the first time I have seen the clouds moving!

clouds clearing on b2 right now 7:42am
can see some orange
cam still shaking

Yeah, those Mila webcams are actually live, but sometimes they just play stills, maybe they have low bandwidth. There is really strong wind (20 m/s) right now, so its no wonder the camera 2 is shaking. Its not raining today, but there is heavy fog.
