I feel bad for North Koreans. Their leader is this kid who is into basketball, downloading porn and executing anyone who disagrees with him...like king baby or something.

Be a nice place to test out China new toys its been developing as I doubt the international community will shed any tears at the loss of North Korea.

I think the Chinese would love to trade away North Korea to get Taiwan.

At one point in the 1950's the North was the rich, industrialized part.

I suspect Kim is a naive, scared boy surrounded by a team of military tyrants who tell him to stay out of their way. They keep him satiated with drugs, women, food a-plenty and every available Earthly delight and they run the country. When they need a public face they trot him out like the king. There's no way those old crusty military madmen are following orders from that boy. I'm sure they've made it real clear to him what will happen if he goes against their wishes.

I'll admit I'm late to this thread...skimmed the posts...didn't see this yet

Anybody ask Dennis Rodman about Un's wife yet?

I mean he seems to be our ambassador to North Korea....and hmmm....I'm trying real hard to think of the right way to say this...

Un's unwanted child isn't unwanted because of possible gender issues...but because of parental issues

Who is Un's daughters REAL father?

The saga of this man still continues and the crimes he has perpetrated against his people and even his own family remain staggering. The latest is speculation about his wife, Ri Sol-ju. It seems she is no angel and her hands may too be covered in blood but still I can't help being intrigued by her apparent disappearance.

She has not been seen in over two months – leading to speculation about her welfare.

He has already demonstrated his ruthlessness by executing both his uncle and his one-time mistress, not to mention numerous other North Koreans who have incurred his displeasure. But could Kim Jong Un, the country's new dictator, have purged even his own wife from his inner circle? Speculation as to the fate of Ri Sol-ju, the petite former singer whom he married in 2009, is growing in the aftermath of the sudden death of Kim's uncle, Jang Sung Taek, whose execution for treason was announced by Pyongyang last Thursday.

Christmas shopping in New York. ?

The killing of a man until now regarded as a regime stalwart has demonstrated that even family members are not safe – and prompted anxious speculation about the fate of Ms Ri, who regularly appears by her husband's side, but has not been seen in public since October.

On Tuesday, video footage was released by North Korean media appearing to show the pair at a memorial service commemorating the second anniversary of the death of father, Kim Jong Il, from whom Kim took over as leader of the world's only hereditary communist republic. But many North Korea experts claim the pictures were from a previous memorial service last summer, raising questions as to why there has so far been no live footage.

Story:
www.telegraph.co.uk...

"Little more is known about her – even her name is thought to be a pseudonym – although she is believed to harbour a ruthless streak herself."

Some reports say it was she who requested the recent execution of Kim's former mistress, Hyon Song-wol, who was also a performer in the Unhasu Orchestra. The reason for this is speculation was, at the time, that the Unhasu Orchestra made a porn film.

The following month, a Japanese newspaper, Asahi Shimbun, reported claims from a high-level North Korean defector that the Unhasu Orchestra members had been actually executed for making pornographic films. He further alleged that the execution was designed to cover up Ms Ri's own involvement in such films, and that this might presage her own fall from grace.

His wife gave birth to a baby girl late last year and in Korea’s traditionally male-dominated society, this may not have fared well with Kim.

There is no way such a glorious stallion of liberty could possibly partake in that of which you accuse him!!

But seriously.. yeah she's probably dead.

It's funny how when dealing with anything from North Korea the propaganda is immense with absolutely nothing to back up any of the claims.
These specific claims coming from South Korea by the way.

It's also funny that most of you have already decided that Kim is an evil despotic war monger...
who does what he wants, when he wants...
But now all of a sudden, he is too scared to admit to this???
Well the way he is portrayed I doubt that, so again it takes credence away from such a claim.

Just so people know, the singer is his Ex-Girlfriend... Not mistress!
Aswell as that factoid others have said IF this did take place, it's highly unlikely for people to be executed for pornography, and probably stems from more anti-establishment plans to cause resistance. IF.

Secondly he didn't execute his uncle for no reason whatsoever, but because of his own treasonous antics, Un reacting the same as any leader would have done.
Hey with that said, what do you expect the sentence to be if Obama and the likes have their way with Edward Snowden???
Probation? Community Service? Life Imprisonment & Death Row? Hmmm that's a tough one!

Kim hasn't droned innocent pregnant women & children!
He hasn't sold off his country to bankers!
He hasn't invaded any countries nor declared war against anybody, only stating if pushed into a corner they will retaliate(like anyone else would)!

However though, all of the people who fund or push these "sources" of (dis)information have done all of those things! & continue to do so!

"Go back to gladiators everybody, everything is under control!!!"

I know what I believe... and until he commits an attrocity he is far and above much more respectable in my mind than most Western leaders!!!

There are a number of threads around here, including a few I've written, that cover the DPRK and regime of the Kim family pretty well. You may find it interesting to go hunt some of that down. We all certainly have different views of the most closed nation left in the world today. It's always an interesting topic though.

Fair enough. Can you point us to positive news articles about North Korea that show the current reports are based on non truth and lies?

What's your feeling on the labor camps in N. Korea?

If the execution was valid, then why were other family members recalled to North Korea, including children, and executed when the only argument made by the DPRK centered around just the Uncle?

Why would china knowingly go out of its way to protect Un's brother from assassination? Especially if the brother did nothing wrong?

Which brings us back to the question -
Any links that support North Korea's actions / refute the information that comes from non DPRK sources?

Thanks for you info. I will definitely be having a look at the other treads, it is probably the most intriguing subject when it comes to what the truth is.
Personally I'd say it's somewhere between the good and the bad reviews.

Peace.

Can you yourself find a valid source that doesn't originate from Chosun Iblo of the South Korean media?

www.telegraph.co.uk...
www.itv.com...

As for the labour camps I'm in agreement with the zeitgeist that this is inherently wrong & disturbing.
But I don't know how they're run, it ranges from prison to slavery in many opinions, so I really don't know of the true purpose of the camps. So I couldn't speculate too much on that.
However if reports are true it's disgusting.

As for the execution of his Uncles family & associates the only source besides South Korea is Daily NK, which is run by defectors, so again is that as reliable as the Horse's mouth?

Personally I can not currently debate Un's brother & China as I have yet to research this particular story.

I don't think Kim is an angel, but I really only hear bad things about his from people with vested interest that leans towards propaganda.
Certainly not all of it, but the majority of it seems rather convenient for the people who make such claims.

6 months later and there is no definitive on the "celebrity execution"!
I always thought western government said "innocent until proven guilty"! This only changes when it's convenient for them though.
Is it any surprise such actions lead disbelief.

Peace.

I think Kim Jong decided that he likes males (of all ages) more than women. Take note:

Regarding the recent missile test on July 4th, he said this...

""Bizarrely describing the intercontinental missile as a “handsome good-looking boy”"

Also, look how Kim Jong is hugging this soldier, who appears to be only reluctantly hugging him in return.
