The saga of this man still continues and the crimes he has perpetrated against his people and even his own family remain staggering. The latest is speculation about his wife, Ri Sol-ju. It seems she is no angel and her hands may too be covered in blood but still I can't help being intrigued by her apparent disappearance.

She has not been seen in over two months – leading to speculation about her welfare.

He has already demonstrated his ruthlessness by executing both his uncle and his one-time mistress, not to mention numerous other North Koreans who have incurred his displeasure. But could Kim Jong Un, the country's new dictator, have purged even his own wife from his inner circle? Speculation as to the fate of Ri Sol-ju, the petite former singer whom he married in 2009, is growing in the aftermath of the sudden death of Kim's uncle, Jang Sung Taek, whose execution for treason was announced by Pyongyang last Thursday.

The killing of a man until now regarded as a regime stalwart has demonstrated that even family members are not safe – and prompted anxious speculation about the fate of Ms Ri, who regularly appears by her husband's side, but has not been seen in public since October.

On Tuesday, video footage was released by North Korean media appearing to show the pair at a memorial service commemorating the second anniversary of the death of father, Kim Jong Il, from whom Kim took over as leader of the world's only hereditary communist republic. But many North Korea experts claim the pictures were from a previous memorial service last summer, raising questions as to why there has so far been no live footage.

"Little more is known about her – even her name is thought to be a pseudonym – although she is believed to harbour a ruthless streak herself."

Some reports say it was she who requested the recent execution of Kim's former mistress, Hyon Song-wol, who was also a performer in the Unhasu Orchestra. The reason for this is speculation was, at the time, that the Unhasu Orchestra made a porn film.

The following month, a Japanese newspaper, Asahi Shimbun, reported claims from a high-level North Korean defector that the Unhasu Orchestra members had been actually executed for making pornographic films. He further alleged that the execution was designed to cover up Ms Ri's own involvement in such films, and that this might presage her own fall from grace.

His wife gave birth to a baby girl late last year and in Korea’s traditionally male-dominated society, this may not have fared well with Kim.

I spoke to my contact at the North Korean embassy, they say she's just out on vacation at Disneyland.

If the speculation is played out, and he did have her killed or strangled her himself, this may have loosened his inside-critters and his mind may have done a snap two-step in the direction of gangly loopy, and he offed his dear uncle for looking at him sideways or not picking up a dinner napkin or something.

He's going to have a hard time getting dates now. Or a bodyguard he can really trust.

I wonder....is that the official word, propaganda, or is she really visiting Disney? For 2 months? She certainly lives in a 'disneyland' existence.

Well, I suppose history has it's share of total, homicidal lunatics reaching the pinnacles of power. If anyone ever wants to read about true insanity and deep mental illness ruling an empire, The Roman Emperor Caligula makes for light reading. Well...light reading if you're Hannibal Lector, perhaps.

Of course, Rome didn't have nukes.... Kim seems to.

That's not Disneyland, it's the North Korean border!

What is she doing outside the country?

I remember I saw the film, Caligula, in the early '80s with Malcolm McDowell in the star role....very disturbing.

I'm sure if a film were made about the conditions of N. Korea's gulags and Kim's tyrannical regime, most people would feel disgusted!

About the same time Rodman was visiting N. Korea...

Not saying that disneyland story is true(most likely fake), but Rodman, King Jong-Un`s wife and Disneyland kinda adds up

Yeah maybe she and Rodman have a thing for each other! That explains Rodman's 'fascination' for N. Korea...that sly dog. Wonder if Kim is on to them?

Who knows, maybe that`s why his Uncle got eliminated and accused of being a traitor, because he knew she was going to flee with Rodman and didn`t tell him in time

Second picture down - her leg looks deformed or injured. There is a mark on her right knee but even stranger is the way her leg looks twisted. I wouldn't put it past him to beat on her - and certainly not to kill her. It's that or he had a new rule pop into his head - no more being seen in public. He is truly is the ideal case study. His disorder would be an entirely new one for the DSM.

I don't know if I agree with your observations but I feel confident in saying that he would be capable of beating the #### out of his wife, put her in hospital and then order a media blackout.

We may never find out where she has been these past months but I find it highly suspicious that she be missing at this particular time of purging.

Yea I may be reading into what I'm seeing too much. Maybe she is pregnant and is sick? He allegedly killed his ex girlfriend 3-4 months ago. It seems he was in love with her (saw her over the years in spite of his fathers rejecting the match). Maybe he had a guilty conscious (he wouldn't have one of those but as close as I can get to the word), and took it out on the replacement (the woman his father approved of - Ri).

I agree with you though - he wouldn't hesitate in beating her and he will tire of her eventually. If he beats her to death it's ok because he is the leader - I don't think he would need a media blackout since he can do whatever he wants. And where is the daughter? Is she not permitted in public?

I didn't know they made a movie. That must have been something else. Wow. I just learned about him and some of the other nut cases that share history with some of the good leaders through a course. That was enough out of a text book and lectures.

I think the one that sticks with me tho was Marcus Licinius Crassus. Still classed as one of the overall richest in history. They did have ...ahem..novel ways of executing people back then and especially ones where it was a personal thing. You think they recovered and reformed the Gold? lol....

From what I have seen over the years is the wives are generally not public figures. Every once in a while they are paraded before the masses and then quickly disappear as quickly as they appeared.

As for the uncle I have seen some articles suggesting the crime he committed was to tell Un no to a new nuclear weapons test. His position apparently was in the minority and not very popular with Un.

Another article suggests his execution was a result in the defection of a top aide who essentially was the finance controller for the regime. He south asylum in the S. Korean embassy in China. He is apparently under guard to protect him.

There is speculation about the aunt as well. While reports state she survived the purge, she also has disappeared from the public. Enough to lead people to speculate about her fate.

China is no happy about the latest purges nor are they thrilled with the possibility of a new nuke test. While china traditionally viewed N. Korea as a buffer, I am getting the impression they would be more comfortable if someone else were in charge. The uncle was the direct link with China, and was well liked by his Chinese counterparts.

I think what we have with N. Korea would be the equivalent of a child sticking a knife into an electrical outlet while the babysitter is talking on the phone and not paying attention.
