CNN - Mega Millions Jackpot Could Reach One Billion By Christmas

The Mega Millions jackpot is juicy, but thanks to new, longer odds, it's entirely possible the payout could reach $1 billion by Christmas.

Nope, that wasn't a typo -- "b" as in "boy."

When no winner was selected in Friday's drawing, the jackpot rolled over to $550 million, and it jumped again Monday to $586 million, with a cash payout of $316.5 million, said Tandi Reddick, a spokeswoman for the Georgia Lottery.

Checking the megamillions site HERE .... at the time of this writing the jackpot is at $636,000,000.

If there are no winners tonight, it is expected to possibly go to a billion for the next drawing ...

YES ... I have a ticket.

When I bought it I told God that I would be a good steward of the $$$.
I'd love to donate to the Sjogrens Foundation ... and St. Judes Childrens Hospitals ...
And I'd spread it around to a bunch of folks who could use it ... etc etc ...
I'd enjoy being Santa Claus ...

Oh ... and I'd take the 30 year payout instead of the lump sum.

We can afford to give billions away in the lottery, but can't afford to feed the hungry or give medicine to the sick. This is one screwed up country.

Won't happen....I'm winning it tonight.

I suppose I should actually buy a ticket to accomplish that.

It could grow to a trillion dollars if no one hits it.

The chances get slimmer that no one hits as the jackpot grows. They are selling 11 million tickets per hour across the nation right now, at least that's what I heard on the radio over lunch.

I spent 2 dollars. So basically, I've doubled my chances of winning.

With the money, I plan to pay off my cable bill, and with the rest? Buy a cheeseburger.

The govt is a winner in the lottery plan.
Pennsylvania uses lottery proceeds to benefit senior citizens.

Just wait until Obama finds out about the lottery... there will be a law passed requiring citizens to buy lottery tickets!

Those are two different things ...

The money in the lottery is put in .. one dollar at a time .. by people buying a chance.

The proceeds from that go to running the state ... paying for things like roads and schools
and other state things that need money. It's a good way to earn revenue for the state.

The entitlement money comes from tax money.

I don't see why you are putting the two together for comparing????

WOW. I'm going to be one rich bastard.

25 % will be divided between my family members with the condition that I never be required to attend another family function.

25 % will be donated to various charities.

The rest will be party money. Fun times! No more cheap women no more cheap booze!

The question is, would winning all that money be a blessing or a curse???

I lost.

Maybe I should have waited to see if I won before I punched my boss and quit my job!

In my case, I'd be giving most of it away, so it would be a blessing for a bunch of people ...
a blessing for the children at St.Judes Childrens Hospital ... a blessing for those suffering
from autoimmune diseases (we'd donate to research) ... etc etc.
