Is My Heart Softer?

With Christmas just a short time away,
I find myself wondering
is my heart any softer this year,
than last year on this day?

Even though Christmas is a time of joy and celebration,
it does come with a certain amount of melancholy,
when I see all the glitter and pretty holly,
I know in the world there are those going hungry.


I think about my family and friends,
who I haven't seen for some time.
I think about those I have lost
and those I am separated from.

I listen to carols and stories
they remind me of past memories.
The beauty of fresh fallen snow,
still stirs my heart and soul.

I am mesmerized by the smiles of children
and the twinkle in their eyes.
Their joy is so contagious, I want to dance with them.
I want to sweep them up in my arms and grant their every wish.

Tears come a little easier now days.
I believe my heart is softer this year.

Having a softer heart is always good in my eyes. More love and spreading love as ya go along is what this years Christmas needs. And of course give to the needy...but that should be always and not just one day out of the year...

Maybe not so much a softer heart but what has always been lingering- just more freely expressed!
To feel true joy and the real spirit of Christmas I have always believed that one must become as a child in his/her heart. Congratulations on finding that child!
