Anyone out there into indie rock? In no particular order, here's a list of some of my favorite albums of the year:

Monkey Minds in The Devil's Time - Steve Mason

Soft Will - Smith Westerns

Junip - Junip

Modern Vampires of the City - Vampire Weekend

Trouble Will Find Me - The National

Ski Mask - Islands

Evil Friends - Portugal. The Man

Bankrupt - Phoenix

It was a good year for indie rock, and I got to see a handful of shows, too, like Vampire Weekend, The National, Of Monsters And Men... what were your favorite albums this year?

Woo! Portugal. The Man!

(Only one on the list I can stand, well . . . MAYBE Pheonix)

The new Cursive album was okay, as well as Tim Kasher's solo.

Being from Nebraska though, I have a bias towards Saddle Creek bands

Oh! Almost forgot! Transcendental Youth,The new Mountain Goats album.

They never disappoint.

Dude, every time The Woods comes on, or Lovers in Love. Spontaneous dance party time.

Oh snap! Sorry, forgot about the new Iron and Wine and the New Damien Jurado.

Too many albums to remember!

The new Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeroes as well as the new Gogol Bordello

The Flaming Lips' "The Terror" should be in the top five on all lists.

I concur, but because they're on Warner Bros. I didn't feel they qualified as an "indie" band.

Damn, I love me some Lips though.

Yeah, just listened to it, that's a good album. The singer has a nice voice - reminds me of Destroyer a little bit.

Yeah, I'm checking it out, pretty good! Reminds me a little of old Pennywise & Lagwagon. I don't listen to a lot of post-punk; I was too spoiled growing up with Propaghandi and NOFX. This is good though, I'll put it in my rotation. Thx!

Seriously, The Mountain Goats, all day every day, I think they have about 5 billion songs.

I don't know if you can consider these guys indie (although the album is self produced) - queens of the stone age had a great one this year.
