... the attorney argued that he should get therapy as opposed to jail.

I remember the case a few years ago where a banker / fund manager (RICH) ran someone down and drove off, leaving the injured man for dead.
His attorney later arranged for him to visit the police and provide a statement - no SWAT team searching or storming his house - and of course plenty of time to sober up. The real kicker though was when it went to court, his attorney making the case that this was a very important person who stood to lose $Millions if he was jailed. That mindset right there lays out the thinking of these self proclaimed elites. Too rich to jail!
In this case, seeing the public outrage, I hope the family business is boycotted as a result. Like I said in another post, hitting these people where it hurts most, in the wallet, might make them change their outlook.

As long as kids like him a produced then whatever they do will not have any impact. Nothing we do *TO* them will change anything.

The USA get all rar rar about there ability to stand up to tyranny, yet all I see are a bunch of goverment fearing whimps to scared to do anything. Least the UK can hold a riot when it wants to.
NavyDoc
I don't see how this would be deserving a riot.

That's not the problem. The outrage is that he got special treatment for being rich. Prison being bad or not he should have got the same punishment as everyone else.
If therapy was standard sentencing for this for all people I doubt there would be thread here. Its the fact he didn't get the standard sentence.
Plus a 500k luxury resort? No way, it should be a standard psychiatric ward of a hospital.
