Hmm this does not seem all that impossible to believe. I wonder if this can be proven and will be picked up by the main media??

WASHINGTON -- Pakistan's military has been so effective in pressuring al-Qaida leaders hiding in the tribal region of western Pakistan that Osama bin Laden and his top deputies no longer are able to direct terrorist operations, a senior American commander said Thursday.

"They are living in the remotest areas of the world without any communications - other than courier - with the outside world or their people and unable to orchestrate or provide command and control over a terrorist network," said Lt. Gen. Lance Smith, deputy commander of Central Command.

"They are basically on the run and unable to really conduct operations except, in the very long term, provide vision and guidance as Osama bin Laden does when he provides one of those tapes," he added, alluding to a bin Laden video tape released three weeks ago.
Bin Laden has been on the run since U.S. forces invaded Afghanistan in October 2001.

Lehman: Bin Laden's Location Pinpointed

Former Navy Secretary John Lehman said Thursday that the Pentagon has pinpointed the location of Osama bin Laden in the Baluchistan Region of Western Pakistan, but is holding back on rounding him up because it could destabilize the government of Pakistani leader Pervez Musharraf.

Bin Laden is living in South Waziristan in the Baluchistan Mountains of the Baluchistan Region, Lehman told the San Bernadino Sun, after delivering a keynote speech on terrorism at Pitzer College in Claremont, Calif.

"Bin Laden has been on the run since U.S. forces invaded Afghanistan in October 2001."

Yes, that is a very damning statement of the Bush administration isn't it? They went after OBL with the biggest and most expensive posse in US history and failed to deliver. "We'll get him dead or alive," Bush said. In March 2003 Bush said he wasn't thinking about Osama much any more.

What blatant hypocrisy, supported by 51% of voting Americans.

No wait... that figure is a lie too, constructed by complicit electoral officials aided and abetted by voting machine manufacturers and other frauds.

As far as Im concerned, untill he is actually caught(if he hasn't been already
), he will always be able to run his operation. As George Tenet just recently brought out, the Internet is their main means of communication, and I am Sure His "Oil Money" has bought alot of Centrinos
also many other people have stepped up, 9-11 Proved to all of them that "It can be done".

Don't you love how the anti-war, anti-Bush crowd always quotes the at-large status of OBL as some kind of proof that (take your pick): the strategy isn't working, the administration is incompetant, Bush is a failure, etc? Let's inject some realism here. OBL fought the Soviets in Afghanistan for years. He knows the terrain, has lots of sympathisers on both sides of the Afghan/Pak border, is in a very large, very remote region, is keeping himself hidden, etc., etc. He's just a very difficult target to find. Someday he will be turned out. Meanwhile, he's been virtually neutralized.

Whatever "failure" there's been is well exceeded by the success.

The CIA is financing him and he's doing fine. Notice the awesome threads his latest video sported?
Wait, was that really him? His nose seemed way bigger- must be the gourmet foods.

Considering they have this courier capability, and you have seen I am sure, the last video of his, I would say that what you present here is a piece of tripe. If he can get those out he can get his orders out also, or have you and Newsmax become so dependent on the modern age that you forget the old courier service...the good old carrier pigeon days?

I think that his methods of communication has for sure suffered and if he s limited to the INTERNET, then it can be tracked. I think for the secret coms he only uses secure methods and those take time.

With so many eyes looking for him and a bounty on his head, it seems logic he has limited mobillity, but let's not forget he has already planted the seed that is Al-quaida, from that grows a tree of regional cell/terrorists, like Al-zarqawi inspired by OBL.

I doubt that the mere capture/dead of OBL will make al-quaida vanish, especially since the usa government seems helping them (by sticking their nose and guns in middle-east affirs) recruit new angry members.

Personally I think that peace in Israel have much better effect on taking away the breeding ground for islam terrorism than going on a rampage. Even Bush understands this, reason why he donates money for palestine elections.

Guess what? Even before 9/11, bin Laden never ran al Qaeda operations on a day to day basis. Each cell was and is fairly autonimous, and needs no central leadership.

First of all, John Lehman is a far-right wing cook who doesnt have access to intelligence of that level. Second, if he did have clearance and this info was true, he would be arrested and charged with breaching national security. Third, if we knew OBL's whereabouts, we would have either sent a snatch and grab team to extract him, or if resistence was deemed too great a threat, then an airstrike would have been called in. After the airstrike a forensics team would be sent in to ID bin Laden's remains. This would be done at night(with or without Pakistani approval) so that the forces couldnt be ID'd as American.
Politically, there is no way that the US would not act immediatly upon reliable info pertaining to OBL's whereabouts. Can you imagine the heat that Bush would face if it was found that he knew where OBL was and failed to act?

Catastrophic success.

Although, perhaps, we might have been able to catch him if we had 100,000 American troops looking for him.

Not at all, I think he is living in Pakistan or Iran. I even heard someone say today that they think he is in Saudi Arabia which I highly doubt.

The only time he is in caves is when he NEEDS to hide, which isnt much being where he is.
