As for when he passed on, I don't know the true answer. But, I can tell you, thus far, everything is as it's been before the announcement. In fact, the world is making it sound way bigger than it actually is.

We, well, the average South African are not even speaking about it. Life is normal, as it's been before his passing.

Some (like my wife) had to work longer hours, as she's in the travel business. To most, business and life as usual.

Except for non stop UK type rain we had, all is normal.

People will see Obama as similar to Nelson Mandela and because Obama is the first black president of the US, Like Mandela was to SA.

The only thing similar with those two would be the fact they were both born in Africa, because other than that they are not even remotely similar.

Well he has been on life-support for a long time, you don't have to be alive to be on life-support.

I feel like his death would have been kept hidden for a while to make preparations (perhaps not 6 months...), especially with the fear of the black population turning violent to the white Afrikans after Mandela's demise.

I admit ignorance. When I authored the initial thread you linked to, I assumed that "Las Vegas Guardian Express" was a legitimate news source. Last week I read a follow-up on their original story - here - and I realized what a load of bull they were selling. Weekly World News is probably a more trustworthy source than GLV. My apologies for the part I played in spreading their nonsense...

The other day a co-worker asked me if I had heard that Nelson Mandela died, and without hesitation I blurted out this was like the third time now. I got raised raised eyebrows and a comment about brownies.

I remember hearing the news of his death back in 2007(?)

Strange daze indeed.

He probably was brain dead since June, or at least in very bad shape.

They probably kept his body alive till they could arrange an extravagant funeral and promote his life. They may have needed time to prepare so his death would accomplish the desired effect. It is about unifying the people behind someone. Promoting is necessary for this to occur and it is much better to do this before someone is declared dead.

They keep people alive nowadays that have no clue who they even are. If they can do this to provide jobs for people, they can do it for the reason of promotion. So his memories and mind could have been gone long ago, his soul was not there anymore.

As far as him dying previously in prison, that is a possibility. They could have substituted someone else in his place, denying that he had died.

Maybe someone tried to get mandala out of prison saying he died , but then the plot was found out and the information of his death was erased from history to cover up the media's belief in lies. I cannot say that dying in prison was true, only come up ideas of with possibly could have happened. I have seen much history erased in history, silently buried. Things printed in the newspapers is often a misconception....everyone throws away their newspapers. The internet can have history changed in a few minutes. Any stragglers that were not changed will be discounted as a misinterpretation since the evidence quoted has changed. It is easier to change the future by changing the past.

I am a South African and live in a small town near cape town i am 56 now and have lived with the Africans all my life and speak most of it. Yes the times are getting worse for the white man in RSA There is a lot to say but my Eng. is bad. Rape of woman young as 3 week old to 80 years old, Murder is high,Robbery is high,Alcohol and drug abuse is high and fraud. No work for the white man, only black will work. Black are not productive and do not have the nessesry training or drive to do work as most of them resive a grant ,free housing , limeted free water and lights, food in the many forms of soup kichens and to much to mention. White man gets it with difficulty or zero.
Thanks

Perhaps OP, one of the commenters underneath the article in LVguardian has it by the right end of the stick?
In other words the "reporter" has alterior motives to question the SA government in an attempt to influence readers..?

Alimasi July 3, 2013 at 12:44 am have been following Laura Oneale, and she is one those obsessed with tarnishing the reputation of South African government and the ANC. Her writing is bias and one sided, she makes claims but with no proof to support it (she rely on her poor analytical skill to draw conclusion). In South Africa the media has freedom of expression, beside the SABC they are independent reporters who expresses themselves freely, such Eyewitness News, Talk 702 and many others. Laura Oneale just give up journalism, you’re too bias and obsessed with ruining South Africa reputation as democratic nation.

form this link guardianlv.com...

Or this comment above (the one here) :

Laura Oneale, another poor attempt at sensationalising a story you got plainly wrong. Mandela Lives (albeit critically) but you simply cannot accept the truth and continue to purport the notion of his death and a government coverup. The way this story has played out on this site is most telling. First it was was reported by (still unrevealed) sources, that his life support had been turned off, then it turned into a farcical statement about “other media outlets” reporting his death, and now this debacle and it’s insinuations of a government cover-up. Can’t you just own up that you got it wrong?

Looks like Ms Laura Oneale has a reputation for such articles..

Hi there from South Africa,

There is a group of us who do believe our beloved Madiba, Nelson Mandela died in June or July. (Who really knows the real date besides those who are hiding it?!) Since he took so ill, spending a very long time in hospital, we have never seen ANY pictures of him. Ever again. And yes, no matter how old and frail he may have looked, I would have loved to see him. There is something very precious about seeing a human being at a ripe old age.

All this time I had a feeling that they are saving this news for when they most need to distract the people's attention. And here it is:

'President' Jacob Zuma is in real hot water right now. He has spent R200 000 000 on upgrading his house in a most remote area. Now this massive packet of money was taxpayers money and just before the news about Mandela's death broke last week he was in the news headlines every night, getting closer and closer to hanging himself by the short and curlies. There are millions in this country living without running water, a roof over their heads or food to eat. Yet, this arrogant man spends huge money on his house.

How dare he claim to build on the legacy left to us by Mandela? Mandela was the most humble, selfless person while Zuma is living in decadence without so much as a thought to those he promised to assist. No wonder he was 'Boooooo-ed' when his image came on the screen at Mandela's funeral. Hope it makes the news there by you, it was such an event here! Its all the radio stations are talking about.

Mandela would not inconvenience the staff of a radio station when he was asked for an interview. He went to the studio instead of them coming to him! There are many many such true stories about this great man.

He once gave two old ladies who went for a walk and got caught in the rain a lift and invited them for tea before dropping them at home. White ladies, that is! He wanted ALL South Africans to be equal, not some to be more equal than others.

The people are angry!

Personally, I believe our Mandela died in June or July.

Mandela was the best. Because of the beauty in his heart. His humility, his compassion, his integrity, his sense of what is right and fair, his love (very real) for children, the young and the old, the ill and the needy.

He concurred through love. Very few politicians can say or do that. They just don't have that kind of grace.

Sincere question : did he ever take responsibility for his past atrocities? I mean is this the view of South Africa, that the man redeemed himself?
