Literature after World War II and the counter culture that followed.

How do the works of the decades immediately following the end of the Second World War reflect significant changes in American culture (e.g. attitudes toward economics, politics, education, art, literature)? I think a lot of the literature was that of the counter culture, like the beatniks and hippy generations that followed. It was a volatile time and it was a time of change. Why though were these counter cultures formed and what spawned it? Disillusionment?

Firstly, have you looked into any of those works?
What attitudes to politics, education etc have you found?
Try making a list of them, as you find them, and then there could be a discussion about where those attitudes could have come from.

A character says "All polticians are crooked". That's an attitude. Make a note of it. And so on, and so on.

I don't mean to be rude but we can't all answer your essay questions for you.
