Daniel Gray, a New Zealander visiting Canada with his Canadian girlfriend to meet her family found a very unique way to spend some of his time during their cold December visit.

With the help of his girlfriend (Kathleen Starrie) and her family, he build the most amazing thing in their Edmonton backyard.

“I wanted to keep him occupied, not with my daughter necessarily. I wanted to keep him busy with something else,” Starrie’s mother Brigid Burton said with a laugh, “I didn’t want Daniel to just be twiddling his thumbs while he’s here in Canada so I thought, this needs to be something that’s got some meat to it.”

And so the construction began. The couple, along with help from Starrie’s parents and even a friendly neighbour, spent five days building what you’re about to see.

Now if I didn't hate the winter... I'd be on task to do this immediately...

( Yes... im Canadian and I hate winter LOL )

And the finished product....

Oh yes... I WANT ONE

Amazingly beautiful...

Agreed, if we get enough snow this winter I might help my grandson make something like that, but I'm in the uk and if we get enough snow to build anything like in your op our entire country will have ground to a halt.

That is very cool... now that he's done, he can spend some quality time with her daughter in there.. I want one also. But I'm in Florida and I'm sure, it would be colored h2o quickly.

White cement and some colored plastic bricks would do it. Problem is, colored plastic bricks that should cost next to nothing actually cost the earth.

It's OK. Alcohol won't freeze. It's impossible.

The beerblocks will be all funky and you can lick them though!

Hmm flat icey beer. You crazy ice dwellers...

oO

*wipes sweat off dripping head.. god I'd murder a stout*
