I have always seen atheism as being a humanist movement. Less focus on the skies, more focus on what's here on earth and what WE can do about it.

My personal platform is PASD: Proactive Self-Determination. Employing the power of our own wills and assets to enact positive change on the world. Yep, I'm totally a communist.

We didn't have any of that stuff back then I don't think, I'll have to check into it.

...please excuse any grammar errors, my teachers didn't do a good job or it could be my genes?

I'll be covering Eugenics next, and how science has led us there before.

Which is, ironically (in a good way), the same platform many "religious" people have started to take up.

Which means, quite succinctly, that it is a cross-platform ideology. Many biblical teachings teach those very lessons as well.

And yet, all of these things are used to divide, instead of uniting us in a common cause; our well-being and our future.

Too many people waiting for science to fix things, too many people waiting for something/someone to drop down from the skies and fix everything, too many people waiting for someone else to do it for them.

Its really a sad state of affairs that instead of trying to work together, most would rather invest their time and energy into creating more problems rather than acting on solutions that not only help themselves, but others regardless of difference in perspective. Its madness that people would cut off their nose to spite their face in this way. We ALL suffer because of it.

The problem with that is religious people believe in what is called "perfection", which inherently necessitates a dominance complex. One man must always have his foot on the back of another, which invariably results in the destruction of one or another, which hinders the revolutionary process by which all civilizations take the next step in development. Division fosters evolution, dominance fosters stagnance. It's takes at least two to move forward.

boymonkey74Jesus is a socialist.

this kind of socialist?

"Vladimir Lenin followed this tradition, and considered religion as an opiate that must be always combated by true socialists. [33]

or a different kind of socialist?

the thread is really not about Jesus or Socialism just yet, but feel free to shed light with your opinions.

What a load of bollocks

I lived on a kibbutz for 10 years as communist as you can get.

Religion was respected and even encouraged.

Atheism = Communism

are you old enough to have experienced it under Lenin?

I would love to hear some stories, which I may be able to dig up on the internet if you do not?

So in other words, once again, you are looking for sycophants. Nothing we can show you or tell you is good enough for you unless it agrees with you. It's your previous thread all over again.

Under the State Atheism espoused by the USSR, many "church institution[s] at [the] local, diocesan or national level were systematically destroyed" in the 1921-1928 antireligious campaign.

I am under the assumption that the two philosophies are one and the same, and that atheism flies under the banner of, or has flown under the banner of communism when leaders with atheistic morals come into positions of power and governance.

Could you explain exactly what "atheistic morals" are?

Your assumption is flawed. Atheism isn't a philosophy. That is only the lack of belief in God, and, for the most part, a belief that God doesn't exist.

See ya,

You mean the Christians can't take what they dish out? What a pity. Guess they shouldn't pick fights then.

Lack of a belief in spirituality or gods does not equal a belief in the state.

Stating that communism is atheism is a lack of understanding of what both are.

There have been atheist communists in the past. There have also been religious communists as well.

There are also atheist anarchists that exist. I am one.

So what's a belief in, and rejection of, God? Just out of curiosity.

If only every church/temple etc would burn down.

I'll leave that to the atheists, although I have picked up on quite a bit or a hint of their morality from various places on the net such as youtube and where people write their thought patterns out on the web.

the thread is more about Atheism and Communism, but we can see in this one example of what happened in Russia at a more "recent point in history" so it's not a comparison of who is worse.

we have a clear and documented example of atheistic morals at State level which I am providing.. and hope to move on to more examples.

In other words, you don't have any bullets for the gun you're waving, so to speak.

Well, let's have a look at what Westboro Baptist has been up to lately in "recent history", eh? I'm sure they're making a fine example of what a great religion Christianity is. Mocking more dead babies? Or maybe cursing our fallen soldiers in the name of God?

Need I say more?

Communism and religion both foster an external locus of control.

Communism and religion both subordinate the individual to the collective.

Communism and religion are both operated by elites that maintain total control over the language and flow of communication.

Communism and religion are both memes that have violent self-defense mechanisms and are aggressively expansionist.

Atheism is, generally speaking, the lack of these things.

"Atheism is, generally speaking, the lack of these things."

will you be so kind to post the link for the atheists doctrine or manifesto where it claims these things you have written?

I firmly believe atheism does not offer a plan or a motto beyond anti-religion...

or are those just your personal opinions?
