First they can, then somebody says they can't, then they say they will anyway. And we hear about releasing Iranian scientists being "held".

With all the confusion and rumor surrounding the "Agreements" with Iran lately, who really knows anything ?

Now we are (allegedly) hearing from a White House National Security Council (NSC) spokesperson.

Supposedly, Obama IS trying his darnedest to "allow" Iran to enrich uranium afterall ?

All subject to "Scouts Honor" and "Trust but Verify" right?

The White House is currently examining ways to enable Iran to have its own “domestic” uranium enrichment program, according to a senior Obama administration official.

As the details of a six month interim nuclear deal between Iran and Western nations are hashed out, the White House is exploring the practicality of permitting Iran to continue certain enrichment activities, an issue that Iranian officials have described as a “redline.”

“Over the next six months, we will explore, in practical terms, whether and how Iran might end up with a limited, tightly constrained, and intensively monitored civilian nuclear program, including domestic enrichment,” White House National Security Council (NSC) spokesman Caitlin Hayden told the Washington Free Beacon.

Actually quite simple, just say go ahead, we don't care. If the government doesn't care now, then it spent years of effort for nothing. Sounds about right.

Iran is breaking no laws by enriching uranium. They signed the NPT and have the right to do it. America doesn't have to look for ways to allow Iran to develop nuclear and America is in fact breaking the NPT by not helping them to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. This is something the Israeli butt kissing idiot who wrote this article would have known had he done a little research.

Well, if Iran has declared it a "red line," we don't have to take it seriously, do we?

And for Buster2010, If Iran abided by all of the nuclear agreements it has signed, nobody would be upset. But to claim that the treaties give them the right to enrich, then have them violate their agreements, seems, well, "dishonest" isn't quite strong enough.

Any agreement is a trap for Iran. It would be just a matter of time before Iran would be accused of breaking the agreement, and that would be the justification for a military invasion.

Iran is surviving the economic sanctions just fine. There is no reason for them to chance a deal with the devil. It's not like American presidents have proven themselves particularly honest or trustworthy lately, and that's not likely to change anytime soon.

It's not super complicated.

There's this thing called the IAEA, and they do things like send inspectors to investigate things.

Provide full access to all the things.

Problem solved. If Iran does intend on only enriching uranium for the purpose of medicine and energy, ship whatever they don't use to other countries for disposal, then where's the problem?

I think this whole thing, has literally consisted of a stick waiving contest and nothing else.

Israel is the only reason why people are even talking about Iran's nuclear program. And you need to study up on the NPT.

Article II: Each non-NWS party undertakes not to receive, from any source, nuclear weapons, or other nuclear explosive devices; not to manufacture or acquire such weapons or devices; and not to receive any assistance in their manufacture.

Article III: Each non-NWS party undertakes to conclude an agreement with the IAEA for the application of its safeguards to all nuclear material in all of the state's peaceful nuclear activities and to prevent diversion of such material to nuclear weapons or other nuclear explosive devices.

Article IV: 1. Nothing in this Treaty shall be interpreted as affecting the inalienable right of all the Parties to the Treaty to develop research, production and use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes without discrimination and in conformity with Articles I and II of this Treaty.

2. All the Parties to the Treaty undertake to facilitate, and have the right to participate in, the fullest possible exchange of equipment, materials and scientific and technological information for the peaceful uses of nuclear energy. Parties to the Treaty in a position to do so shall also co-operate in contributing alone or together with other States or international organizations to the further development of the applications of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, especially in the territories of non-nuclear-weapon States Party to the Treaty, with due consideration for the needs of the developing areas of the world.
