I have no idea if this is true or not.
ATS can verify or debunk. (we are pretty good at that!)

This story is making the rounds on the internet. It's available at many sites.
The ad -
Universal Free Press - Muslim Man Tries To Sell His Castrated African Slave on Facebook

Peace be upon you …

I have a [male] slave I bought from an African country and arranged for his visa and stay till I got him to Saudi [Arabia]

His description:

1 – Black skin. Tall 172 sm. Weight 60 kilos.

2 – Castrated (excellent for working with a family) you can check him with a doctor our yourself if you have experience in the matter.

3 – [His] health is quite undamaged and has no imperfections.

4 – Age 26 years.

5 – Religion muslim and [he is] obedient and will not disobey you except in what displeases God. Please, the matter is very serious and is not a joke.

I'm not sure when this ad was supposedly up and running.
Reportedly Facebook has removed the ad.
Officially slavery is illegal in Saudi Arabia.
Estimates are that there are at least 300,000 unofficial slaves in Saudi Arabia.
Sharia allows (encourages??) slavery and the Qu'ran says it's okay to commit adultery with slaves.

IF THIS IS TRUE .... it is something that can't be coherently defended.

My BS detector is tingling.

Doesn't surprise me one bit. The slave trade is very much alive and thriving world wide.

Here's an interesting link: www.freetheslaves.net...
And a news story regarding modern slavery in the United States: wgbhnews.org...

Modern day slavery is something we tend to turn a blind eye to, either out of ignorance or indifference.

Just wanted to get that out there! : Smiley :

Do you really have to ask that? Haha, you'd be surprised with just how stupid the human species can be! Ever watch the old "Three Stooges"? Larry, Curly and Moe look like geniuses compared!

Yes. One look at the situation in the world says humans can be that stupid.
Heck, take a look at this thread -
Stoning Adulterers Comes Back in Afghanistan
So yes, people can be this stupid.

The question is ... is this a true story or a hoax?
It's making the rounds on the internet, so I figured we could dig in and figure it out.

There are an estimated 30 million people in actual slavery in this world today.
That's not counting the number of women in forced 'marriages'.

American Thinker - Slavery in the world today

The largest numbers of slaves are in India (14.7 million slaves), China (3 million), and Pakistan (2.1 million). The lowest prevalence of slavery exists in Britain, Ireland, and Iceland. In the Middle East the estimate is that about 2.5% of the total 30 million in the survey exist in some form of modern slavery. Trafficking of migrants from Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia is widespread. Not surprisingly in view of the influence of Islam, the Middle East countries have the highest level of discrimination against women. They have a high level of forced and child marriages, and also a considerable exploitation of trafficked women in forced prostitution and as domestic workers. Some of the countries, including Egypt, Syria, and Morocco have passed laws to limit slavery but they are not enforced...

The worst ranked Middle East countries are Sudan, Libya, and Saudi Arabia. The best ranked are Tunisia, Lebanon, Egypt, and Israel. The Palestinian Authority and the Gaza Strip run by Hamas are not covered in the survey of slavery. Israel is comparatively well placed in this survey. It has an estimated 300,000 foreign workers, about 3.5% of total population. The survey suggests Israel has 7700-8500 slaves, almost all related to sex trafficking victims and the sex trade in which about 15,000 prostitutes are involved. Traffickers have been smuggling women every year into Israel. Sexual services were and still are legal in Israel.

IMHO, I think this could easily be true.

Slavery, or what its been re-branded as, human trafficking, is alive and well.

As a matter of fact, many of our own defense contractors have been caught doing it with women and children.

And what happened when the Pentagon moved to outlaw the slave trade by defense contractors? The defense contractors blocked it:

...media reports detailing the alleged involvement of DynCorp employees in buying women and girls as sex slaves in Bosnia during the U.S. military's deployment there in the late 1990s.

But it wasn't until last summer that the Pentagon issued a proposed policy to enforce the 2003 law and Bush's December 2002 directive.

The proposal drew a strong response from five defense-contractor-lobbying groups...

Without tough provisions requiring referrals to prosecutors, they said, contractors could still get their employees on planes back to the U.S. before investigations commenced, as they allege happened in several documented cases in the Balkans.

As a matter of fact, Cynthia McKinney, who was perceived as a pain, actually tried to bring this to light. Many claim this was one of the reasons why she lost her job.

Even after it went public, DynCorp was at it again:

Contractors hired Afghan 'dancing boys', WikiLeaks cable reveals.

Please, the matter is very serious and is not a joke.

I think the FB advert is probably a hoax or a campaigner fighting to bring more awareness and anger on the issue of slavery. The poster could be fighting absurdity with absurdity in the form of a stunt else is trolling to get attention.

The above quote from your source can be taken two ways.

Here is a case of three slaves in my country, Wales. I was shocked when this hit the news in September, I never could have imagined it happening so close, and in a country with minimum wage and decent human rights. I think it is far more widespread than we can begin to imagine.

A third man has been found by police in an anti-slavery inquiry in south Wales. The 60-year-old British man, discovered after a raid on a farm at St Brides, near Newport, is having his health checked by specialist Red Cross staff. Three men from the village have been arrested bringing the total number of arrests in the operation to seven. On Monday a Polish man was found at Cariad Farm, in nearby Peterstone, living in poor conditions. A British man was found there in March.

It's convenient to turn a blind eye to slavery because then everyone can turn and point fingers at the Western World who made a such a public ordeal of attempting to end it as having been so immoral and evil for being slavers of the rest of the world while they go right on practicing it.

We even do it to ourselves. We are guilt tripping ourselves right out of existence over slavery while the very people we fought to free go right enslaving each other ... and us on occasion. That's not to say we don't have our own sex trade going on, but lets' all stop pretending we in the West were the only ones to ever indulge.
