I've been following ATS for well over a couple of years; and looking over the shoulder of FisssionSurplus.

As for me, I have many years of Windows (only) programming that starting in 1981 with MS DOS 1.1, Basic, C Compilers and lastly in 2009 SQL with numerous large databases. Good Grief, I'm getting old.

Due to "Current News", I'm driven to share the following thoughts/observations. IF anyone wants to take the reins and begin this subject/topic, please feel free. I'm ready and willing to jump in and contribute.

Regardless, I'll continue to at least be ... "looking over the shoulder of FisssionSurplus".

It's difficult NOT to find in the daily news stories that relate to "SPY!" on this, that, over here, over there and "Hard!". Unknown large sums of money are most likely being spent for SECURITY and PROTECTION and perhaps it's time for individuals to sit up and pay some additional attention to the matter.

I think if Mr. NSA Man keeps pushing the issue, it could backfire on them if just a small percentage of users simply started encrypting some of their posts and privately sharing their Password(s).

Sure, Mr. NSA would likely find the "Password(s)" but it should make their so-called job noticeably more difficult because; How many passwords would need to collected for just one individual ???

Perhaps it is time to begin considering the creation of an Open Source Encryption Program specifically for Text Messaging.

I do have a "Working Prototype" that only runs under Windows (98, 2000, XP, Win7, Win8) at: Secret Agent Man .

A similarly functioning program would need to be "ported" in such a way where it would work on Apples, Linux and IPads (maybe?).

The "encrypted text" at the beginning of this thread can be tested by right-clicking in the lower window followed by clicking "paste" then clicking "Decrypt" button.

Note: Leave the PassWord and PassCode at their default values.
