Incorrect.

C/2012 S1 is a rather nondescript comet which has not lived up to early hype. I am somewhat disappointed by this but it has by no means disturbed my understanding of comets or orbital mechanics.

So, your saying this a "illusion" to distract us from the true problems, China Economy Syria Obama.

Thanks.

Either way, thinking that the Seeds Planted in the Norway vault was all about GMO kinda makes me think they have possibly known about this for a while.

The "illusion" might actually be reality seeing how fast everything is going right now. B52's flying over the China no fly zone. The Chess game is real.

Maybe its a possibility that this time is enough to play some chess pieces.

See, I bet if we look back in ATS history this is how it started for Phage, an innocent sincere effort to educate.....lol Well done!

Say, that reminds me: I haven't seen Phage since I got out of sickbay. What's up with that?

Most of the people who post about the doomsday rock know the real deal. They do it for the same reason the news is always bad. We're addicted to doom porn and dirty laundry. It makes their life seem a little exciting. Deep down they know it's bunk. It's like reading a science fiction novel. It lets you forget the bills and the rat race we deal with every single day. Excellence post to clear it up for the people who might actually believe it.

Do one for bigfoot!

May I quote you!
"The debris field of dust left in the comet's wake, will harm no one and will not cause any damage. We pass through debris fields of past comets many times a year and one can enjoy several annual meteor showers as a result.

Source

So, there you have it, folks. ISON is just a comet, it poses no danger to earth, its not niburu, it has nothing in tow, NASA is not lying, and it will pass much like Elenin and the others... without incident.

Please stop propagating ignorance and fear mongering."

First I'm not of doom and gloom, but what you say is a contradiction. If in fact a comet like Ison could cause meteor showers, this could be a serious problem. I have a Iron, nickle meteor, in my possession, I would of not want to be hit by it.

Know how many people have been hit by Meteors in past?

To say Ison is just a Comet, is kind of understatement, do you know where most of the water of Earth, is said to of come from.

I am not concerned as to what is to come, but ask those Astronaut's that dropped that Tether Strap threw the Ionosphere, what happened and if they knew, that it was going to scare the crap out of them.

Unless you can see the future, you don't know what is going to happen around Jan. 16th, 2014, when we do pass threw the trail of Ison, now you tell me meteor shower. They say it took 400,000 + years to return, are you aware of Newton's law's of motion, 400,000 years is long time Ison could have little Igrandson's hanging back there some where.
Do you ever read your Horrorscope to see what the Stars have in store for you?

With the fact we, you, and everyone else are on a ball flying around in a Space, in a void, we can not define, you don't know what will happen, today, tomorrow, or next week. I do hope it's good, but it's all perspective, to me it looks like the world is Flat. But I know it's snot.

True. But we do know ISON's orbit and how comets behave. ISON (and its tail) pose no threat. There is a very slight chance we will pass through the tail of ISON (left behind at the beginning of this month) in January but cometary tails are composed of dust particles and ice. They are not rocky, they are not iron.

Know how many people have been hit by Meteors in past?
I give up. How many?

That doesn't mean that there are no threats. In the case of comets and asteroids, it's the ones we don't see that are the ones to worry about. ISON is nothing to worry about.

WHAT! No doom porn....how boring to hear this kind of stuff. NASA isn't saying much about what is going to happen with the comet because they have never experienced a comet like this. They can judge the probable orbit pretty well but they can't say what is going to happen to the comet as it rounds the sun...noone can do that because nobody has experienced a comet from out of the solar system like this before.

The people who study this will learn a lot from what happens, they actually have some pretty good equipment watching it. This equipment was not available even thirty years ago. This will probably excite some of the comet people.

I don't feel it will be any threat to earth myself, the closest variance in the orbital diagram estimate is far away. It may give some people a stroke from bending their necks up to look at it and cutting circulation to the brain.

Maybe it is a big popcorn kernal and it will come around as a piece of popcorn. As you guys can see, I am not that worried about it, if it does somehow go astray and heads straight towards us, what could we do anyway. I'm hoping it does not fizzle out so we get a good show. It has been a little disappointing so far.

A comet like what? What is so special about C/2012 S1?

noone can do that because nobody has experienced a comet from out of the solar system like this before.
Not sure what you mean by "outside the solar system". Is the Oort cloud "outside the solar system"? If so, a lot of comets probably come from there.

if it does somehow go astray and heads straight towards us
It won't. It can't.

I'm hoping it does not fizzle out so we get a good show.
Fizzle from what? It ain't going to put on a show.

Hey Page, thank you for all your knowledge

When will the comet be visible with the naked eye ? (if all...)
Will it survive the sun enough to see it in the night sky ?

You forgot one. The Electric Universe theory and the fact comets are Electric and will have an Electric reaction with the Earth and it could cause SERIOUS amounts of doom porn!

Also laughably stupid and wrong.

Your list shows no deaths caused by meteorites since NASA was created.

It's Phage (with an 'h')

When will the comet be visible with the naked eye ? (if all...)
If at all, it will be visible after it rounds the Sun and gets far enough out so that it can be seen just before dawn. I'm going to start looking again on the 3rd but I don't have high hopes.

Will it survive the sun enough to see it in the night sky ?
Odds are that it will survive but it won't be in the "night" sky at all, not while there's any chance of it being naked eye visible.

NASA only knows "probailitys" and that is the key.

Either way, John Lear once said "there is an atmosphere" on the Moon and he was thought to be crazy.

Is NASA crazy or John Lear.

Legit question.

No one will know anything until this thing passes the Sun.

Full of crap is not the same thing as crazy. The Moon has an "atmosphere" but Lear claimed it was breathable.

r

Couple of points..1 you could argue that the role Morgan Freeman played was supposed to be President Obama... if it was some kind of fortelling than maybe the people in Hollywood know something so keep in mind there is still 2 years left of his term...with how things have been happening so fast that is a lot of time from now.

2....The USA is going down the toilet in my opinion with so many terrible REAL things not just stories and not believe something does not make the facts go away so that's why these "Doom n gloom" threads are not going to go away and keep bothering you.

3...It's possible that the world will end in different ways at different times to different parts of the Earth...it's very possible that if there was some type of tragic event..it's possible that where your at you would get wiped out so fast you wouldn't even know if the data you knew was wrong.

4 NASA was shutdown.or still is if I'm correct..so if none of the information to detect these objects depends on NASA then I hope so...cause there's no way of know what's coming then.

Flaunt

I've been keeping up with these ISON doom porn threads for a while now and, at times, I've wanted to hurl my iPad into a wall out of sheer frustration. The ignorance and blind conviction of some people on here is staggering.

Why bother clicking the doom porn threads if it bothers you that much?

Have you never wanted to look away from something but you just can't help yourself? That's why.

Only one thing could possibly alter it's course and that's a direct hit from a CME. There is mass and extreme force involved.

Unlikely, but it could. I really don't care either way lol!
