How will you react?

Me: "Awesome, I wonder what their beer tastes like"

American Government: "Lets send Halliburton over there with a military escort just like Afghanistan and see how much oil they have"

It would be a hell of a fun to experience modern times 'The War of the Worlds'.

I posted a more clear disclaimer at the top. Please let me know how you will react when this or something similar is confirmed.

Would a ground based telescope really be enough to get that level of imagery? I thought we'd need inferotometry or something for that.

I'd be excited - altoughI figure we'll find megascale engineering beore city lights.

Wrong forum, I'm afraid.
Even if the story was true, you wish to feck about. It's called pseudo intellectualism.

Personally I will be pissed off, cause there'll be nothing we can do to see them
, or I will be living in denial with Pics or it didn't happen.

@OP: Please remove the disclaimer, date is sufficient

Since we are still nasty chimps throwing bombs and that we would still be quarantined, I'd wait patiently in line for the government to inject my obedience chip while furiously pinching myself to finish waking up.

The answer is yes and maybe:

Ok, I see the disclaimer. Whoever wrote that really should at least try to make the year of the event match when the event is actually going to take place.

Just shoddy disinfo management, in my opinion.

Come on Guys,
Why the replies to the OP? it is a contrived set-up, originally without the obvious disclaimer which was done in edit. Beware of humongous threads from an OP naming names without any confirmed citations whatsover. Strewth! Maybe Jade is Olivet.

You serious?
First clue is in the title "How will you react?".
Second clue was the first thing in the article, the date.
So, why the disclaimer?

Great one OP. I caught this earlier before you added the disclaimer and it was quite a story to allow just enough belief in to see how it might feel. Hmm.. It'll be a real mixed day, when this day finally comes. I have no question in my mind it will, eventually, too. Probably much like that depicts for how it's first found or, at least, explained to the public. Gotta get us used to the idea so people don't go bonkers...

Even if, by some odd chance, we're all totally wrong and have been all along about UFO's or Aliens actually having been here? It's a BIG BIG Universe, in 3 dimensions too ..as even I have to remember sometimes.. Odds are almost certain the day will come, eventually.

****DISCLAIMER*** The Following "news" story is fictional, but the people, projects, organizations and science are not. With only one or two exceptions their names have been changed. While this discovery has not happened yet, it very well could in the next decade or so based on current and planned science.

I would be very interested in what your reaction will be when this story is real.

1. I would first find out if they have Republicans and Democrats.

If so I would prepare to go to another planet in order to avoid paying more taxes, lose my personal freedoms , increased universal gov't spending, and to avoid galactic warfare .

What do you mean? The date I set was exactly 6 years from today in the year 2019. About a year or two after Colossus might be built.

That part isn't that important. I'm was not trying to fool anyone. What I did want to do was to gauge how people who are both UFOs as ET believers and UFOs as ET skeptics would react to such a story when it becomes real.

I am not an "disinformation agent" just an astronomy and astrobiology undergrad.

Why all this fuss?
Can't someone with a little bit of imagination "let it fly" a bit?

The OP made a really good work, in my view, it is still a sort of sci-fi stuff but it seems reasonable.

My guess is that the US would send a craft to find "terrorists" first, and be "peaceful" and "protective" later. Oh, wait, that's not sci-fi.

You posted the article without the disclaimer first. The date of the event was set in the future 5 years when the actual event it set to take place in 2016. What is one to think upon first inspection.

This is just logistical, not really trying to be critical, I take this thread for what it is, and it is ok. Personally I hope it all comes true, except in 2016 instead of 19. There's a greater chance I'll be dead by 2019, and I'd like to be around for that!

Carry on with the fiction.

I would giggle a lot to learn that the tendency of humans to be anthropocentric had been turned on its head.

Then I would rush off some emails to various agencies suggesting in a kindly way, of course, that they reinitiate investigations into those pesky things called UFOs. Perhaps, I would chance to venture to them, that there be connections between the one and the other. I mean, who woulda thought that the day before they made that discovery?!!!!!! Maybe I would get one of those medals the pres is handing out to various people he especially likes for some obscure reason. (?)

If this was disinfo, you wouldn't be able to recognize it. The psywar folks run a tight ship.

Its a hypothetical situation and how you would react to it.
